What is it like to live in an urban village in Shenzhen?
I lived in a very large urban village in Dalang Street, Longhua for five years. I worked as a caterer and opened a shop in this village. In other words, for five years, I worked and lived here, except for going to the market to buy food. Food, basically I rarely leave this village.
There are all urban villages around here, one next to another. The most annoying thing is that the names of these villages are very similar. Each name is divided into District 1, District 2, District 3, etc., such as Let’s talk about the first and second districts of Sanhe Overseas Chinese Village, the first and second districts of Sanhe New Village, the first and second districts of Sanhe New Village, the first and second districts of Overseas Chinese Village, and so on. So in the first year after I moved here, I could never figure out the names of these villages. It was a headache every time I went to deliver food to nearby villages.
The building I rent is only 100 meters away from my shop, which is very convenient for commuting to get off work. The rent for my shop is very expensive, and it goes up by 400 to 500 yuan every year. The rent for a single room is 800 yuan. , considered the cheapest. Most of the permanent residents in the village are migrant workers and business people from all over the world. During the day, many people go out to work, and the village is a little deserted. At five or six o'clock, at the village entrance guard box, you can see groups of people returning to the village one after another. The busiest time in the village begins every day.
The overall appearance of the urban village where I live has undergone earth-shaking changes in the past few years. In the first few years when I moved here, the roads in the village were in bad condition, the public security was not good, and vehicles and electric vehicles were parked in a mess. Last year, gas pipelines were laid in the village and all roads were excavated. The horrifying and harsh noise of the excavators tortured the entire village for more than half a year. Finally, all roads and corners in the village were paved with asphalt, and several electric vehicle charging areas were built. There are many buildings in the village where all the tenants have been driven out and apartments have been renovated. After the renovation, the buildings have a completely new look inside and out. Household appliances and daily necessities are provided in the rooms. You can move in with just a bag. However, the house prices have doubled and those with a monthly salary of several thousand People don't have the strength to live.
There is a security team of more than ten people in the village. They patrol the village 24 hours a day and are responsible for the village's security and fire protection. Especially when the epidemic prevention and control was at its worst, this team really played a big role in the safety of residents.
Due to business reasons, we will soon leave this village where we have lived for five years. Even though we are deeply reluctant to leave, we will eventually have to leave one day. To this village, I am just a passerby. That’s all, I’ve left my five years of struggle and countless good times here, and that’s enough.
I have lived in Minzhi Nanyuan New Village for 15 years. I have watched the surrounding areas and Minzhi transform from the village to the street office, and from the village to the North Station New City.
When I first moved to Nanyuan New Village in 2001, I felt that the surrounding environment and sanitation were no different from those in my hometown. The roads were muddy and dusty on sunny days. On rainy days, the roads were slippery and muddy and difficult to walk on. There were weeds everywhere. Rats were scurrying around and garbage was everywhere. The only advantage is that there are many vacant rooms for rent, there are many choices, and the rent is cheap (300 yuan for a two-bedroom and three-bedroom apartment of 40 to 50 square meters). At that time, although I lived in a rental house that was not very good in all aspects, I still felt a little satisfied. It was much better than living in a dormitory.
With the construction of Century Spring City Community and the increase in factories, the neighborhood has gradually become lively. With the construction of Shenzhen North Railway Station and Metro Line 4, people's villages have become people's streets, and the surrounding area has completely changed. With the completion of Meilong Road and the construction of Meilong Town, Huilongwan, Shuixiechun and other residential communities, the environment and public security of Nanyuan New Village/Dongquan New Village have made a qualitative leap. Of course, the rents have also been rising steadily.
After moving away in 2017, I occasionally went back to take a look. I found that with the completion of Hongshan 6979 and Longguang Jiuyue Terrace next to Hongshan Station, the environment, security, and transportation of Nanyuan New Village/Dongquan New Village have improved. Travel, education, shopping, etc. have gone beyond the scope of urban villages, and I feel that many formal communities cannot compare. Apart from the fact that the rooms are a little crowded and the rent is a little expensive, I really can't find many disadvantages about living here.
Now I have been regretting not buying a house in Nanxian Plaza or Century Spring City (I had no money and no awareness of buying a house at the time). In the end, I was forced by the housing prices to escape to the corner of Longgang, and my life was not as good as in the city. The hard life in Zhongcun [face covering]
Shenzhen City Village used to be dirty and messy, but now it is much better. It used to be a mixed bag of people living there, and people from all walks of life had poor security. Now the security is particularly good. A new look. It's pretty good now.
Having lived in Baishizhou for ten years, let me express my feelings. The rent is getting higher every year, the houses are all in handshake buildings, and people live in densely packed areas. But, but, it is close to the Window of the World and Baishizhou subway station. , the transportation is very convenient. There are Happy Valley, Splendid China, and Window of the World nearby. There is also Happy Coast and IKEA not far away. In short, it is very convenient for fun and shopping. I got used to it and I like it very much! Apart from the fact that I don’t make enough money to buy a house nearby, I still enjoy the public facilities and environment, and it’s also very close to the Mangrove Bay Seaside Park. Baishizhou is really a Feng Shui treasure! Therefore, there are Mangrove West Coast, a mansion with hundreds of millions of dollars, Qiaocheng mansion with millions of dollars, and Mangrove Bay, with tens of millions of dollars. The rent here is more than 3,000 yuan for a two-bedroom apartment, which is more expensive than a house outside the customs. However, the supply exceeds the demand. It is close to Nanshan Science and Technology Park. With the development of the city, there are fewer and fewer urban villages in the center of Shenzhen. Baishizhou has become the last resort for migrant workers. of paradise. And half of it has been demolished, leaving only a small area on the seaside, sandwiched in the middle of a circle of luxury houses around it. In the past two years, the environment of the urban village has been improved, and it is much cleaner! If nothing else happens, I may continue to live here for several years, because my children are studying here in elementary and junior high schools, and it is easy to apply for public schools.
From 2015 to 2019, I lived in an urban village in Shenzhen for 4 years. The overall feeling is not bad. Compared with the urban area, the rent is indeed much cheaper, and it is not particularly remote. After all, it is a big city like Shenzhen, with transportation extending in all directions. I personally feel that it is quite convenient. It’s a good place to get some peace and quiet amidst the hustle and bustle. I really miss that time.
