Voting system of electoral procedure

Rules and methods of electing members of parliament. Every country has laws and regulations on how to vote for representatives or members of representative institutions.

China's electoral law stipulates the procedures and methods of voting: when voters directly elect deputies to people's congresses, polling stations are set up in each constituency or election meetings are held, and the election committee presides over the election. When local people's congresses at or above the county level elect deputies to the people's congress at the next higher level, the presidium of the people's congress at the corresponding level shall preside over the election. All elections shall be held by secret ballot. If a voter is illiterate or unable to write a ballot because of disability, he may entrust someone he trusts to write it on his behalf. Voters who go out during the election period may entrust other voters to vote on their behalf in writing, but they must obtain the consent of the Election Committee in advance. An elector may vote for or against a candidate, elect any other voter, or abstain from voting.

France's electoral law 1964 also stipulates the voting system in detail: voting is conducted in every town, and voting lasts 1 day on Sunday. In towns with a population of more than 30,000, voting machines can be used at polling stations. Specific procedures for voting, proxy voting and the establishment of voting supervision committees are also stipulated.
