The Historical Evolution of College of Foreign Languages of Guizhou University
(1) the first stage (1942- 1966)
During the period of National Guizhou University, War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression was in a difficult stage. Many scholars and celebrities moved from the occupied areas to the southwest rear, and some of them came to teach at Guizhou University. Teachers of English Department include Yang, a famous scholar and translator in China, Pan Jiaxun, the first translator in China who translated Ibsen's works, Song, a returned student from the University of California, and Ren Tai, a doctor from Harvard University. 1945 After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, many celebrities left Guizhou and returned to their hometowns, but many well-known experts and scholars in the Foreign Languages Department continued to teach, laying a solid foundation for the development of the teaching staff of the Foreign Languages Institute. 1952, the national colleges and universities were adjusted, the National Guizhou University was closed, and the teachers and students of the Foreign Languages Department were transferred to Sichuan University. On September 20th, 1958, Guizhou University resumed its reconstruction. 1960 the central government put forward the eight-character policy of "adjusting, consolidating, enriching and improving", reducing the enrollment scale and adjusting the merged majors. The Russian major of the foreign language department was abolished and merged into Guiyang Normal University, and the English major of Guiyang Normal University was merged into Guizhou University.
(2) The second stage (1972- 1998)

1979 the foreign languages department began to recruit Japanese majors. 1983 applying for a master's degree in English language and literature. 1993 was awarded a master's degree in English language and literature.

(3) The third stage (1998-2002)
1September, 1998, Guizhou University adjusted its departments and established six colleges: Polytechnic College, Humanities College, Agricultural College, Biotechnology College, Art College and Adult Education College. The Department of Foreign Languages belongs to the College of Humanities.
(4) The fourth stage (2002-2004)
In September 2002, the Department of Foreign Languages was separated from the School of Humanities and merged with the Department of Foreign Languages of the University to form the School of Foreign Languages and International Education. In 2003, he applied for a master's degree in foreign linguistics and applied linguistics, and was awarded a master's degree in foreign linguistics and applied linguistics in 2004.
The fifth stage (2004-2008)
In August 2004, with the merger of Guizhou University and Guizhou University of Technology to form a new Guizhou University, the former College of Foreign Languages and International Education of Guizhou University and the former College of Foreign Languages of Guizhou University of Technology merged to form a new Foreign Languages College of Guizhou University, which consists of English Department, Japanese Department, Business English Department, Translation Department and Foreign Languages Teaching Department I, II and III.
In August 2006, the Foreign Language Teaching Department of the University was separated from the School of Foreign Languages and established an independent Foreign Language Teaching Department of the University.
In July 2008, the undergraduate teaching level of the Ministry of Education was evaluated as excellent.
(vi) Phase VI (2008-present)
