The history of Alice Ho Miaoling Nethersole Hospital
As early as 188 1, Nethersole Clinic was established in Taiping Mountain to serve local residents. Nethersole was named after the mother of Davis, a member of the London Missionary Society.
1887, Sir Ho Kai donated money to build Alice Memorial Hospital in hollywood road, Sheung Wan, in memory of his late wife Alice who died in 1884, becoming the first hospital in Hong Kong to provide western medicine treatment for poor Chinese. In the same year, the Chinese Medical College of Hong Kong, which pioneered the training of medical students, was established, with Alice Memorial Hospital as the teaching hospital. However, the hospital was seriously overcrowded soon after its establishment, so it merged with Nethersole Hospital in Puhan Road at 1893. At that time, Nethersole Hospital was much larger than Alice Hospital, and it was also the property of London Missionaries Association, so the land price was relatively low. Alice Hospital and Nethersole Hospital were even called "sister hospitals" at that time. Today, the current site of the hospital on Hollywood Road has been developed into a mansion.
1904, Sir Heqi founded Alice Memorial Maternity Hospital, which is the first maternity hospital in Hongkong and one of the earliest maternity hospitals in China. 1906, due to the shortage of beds after the merger of Alice Hospital and Nethersole, Pastor He's daughter He Miaoling (He Qi is her brother) donated money and chose to build a new hospital on Belize Road, so it was named He Miaoling Hospital. By 1954, Nethersole Hospital, Alice Memorial Obstetrics Hospital and He Miaoling Hospital were merged into "Alice He Miaoling Nethersole Hospital".
During the Japanese occupation period, the hospital was renamed as a citizen's hospital, and foreign western medicine nurses were sent to concentration camps. The hospital was handed over to Japan for management, and its president was Kenichi Yokoi.

Nethersole College of Holistic Health was established in 200 1, which promotes holistic health and enjoys a rich life through education and research. 1994, Nethersole Hospital, which was still located in the west of Hong Kong Island at that time, moved to the eastern part of the New Territories and Tai Po, so the hospital land on Wen Xian Road was sold to Nanfeng Development (now "No.80 Robinson Road"); This land originally belonged to the London Missionary Society (now the World Missionary Society) and was later used by Nethersole Hospital to serve the public for more than a century.
Later, the hospital and the missionaries agreed to set aside part of the proceeds from land sales to set up a charity fund to promote Christ's fraternity and sharing spirit by subsidizing missionary work, medical and health care, social services and education in Hong Kong and the Mainland. In September, 1997 and 19 were formally established as independent trust funds, which were tax-exempt by the tax bureau.
