What is a ghost?
Bhikkhu again. Knowing the consequences of karma. Watch the path of hungry ghosts. The place where hungry ghosts live. Where. Do it by observing yourself. That is to hear wisdom. Watch the hungry ghosts. There are slightly two types. What a two. One lives among people. The two live in the world of hungry ghosts. He is a ghost among men. If one walks at night. Then there are those who see it. Hungry ghost world. He lived five hundred leagues below Jambudvipa. Thirty-six thousand yojanas long. And the rest of the hungry ghosts and their relatives in the evil realm. Their countless evil karmas are many. Live in Jambudvipa. Some are near and some are far.
----------One of the fourth categories of hungry ghosts in "The Righteous Dharma Mindfulness Sutra"
The World Honored One told us that there are two kinds of hungry ghosts. Hungry ghosts live in the world. They live in the human world. They are ghosts among humans and may be seen at night.
What kind of ghost?
Bhikkhu again. Knowing the consequences of karma. Observe that there are countless species of hungry ghosts. He heard the wisdom. Take a brief look at the thirty-six types of hungry ghosts. (Original part below, same as above)
Why did you fall into the ghost realm?
Ten unwholesome karma. Born among hungry ghosts. This person is responsible for the ten kinds of unwholesome karma. All suffering. Because of bad karma. (The source is the same as above. The sutra details why thirty-six kinds of hungry ghosts fall into the trap. Please refer to the original sutra.)
What are the consequences of the hungry ghost realm?
How can I see Jia Po leaving his wok and being a hungry ghost? Its body is long. Twice as good as anyone else. Faceless hand and foot piercing. Like the feet of a wok. Full of heat. Burn his body. Like a forest burning with fire. Hungry, thirsty and angry. Bound by the times. No one can save me. No home, no parents. Worry and distress. No one came to rescue.
The source is the same as above. This is the retribution suffered by the hungry ghost in the wok (sound huò) body. It is extremely tragic, and there is no one to save it. It is extremely pitiful. It has no home, no parents, and sorrow and distress.
Why did you encounter it?
Furthermore, in the universal universe, if in the future, sentient beings may dream or sleep, they may see ghosts and gods, and even various shapes, either sad or crying, worried or sighing, fearful or frightened. These are all parents, male and female brothers and sisters, husbands and wives and family members who have lived in the past one, ten, hundred or thousands of lives. They are in the evil realm and have not yet been able to escape. There is no hope for blessings and salvation. You should tell your flesh and blood in the past life to make it easier for you to leave. Evil path.
--- "Ksitigarbha Sutra"
It can be seen from the Ksitigarbha Sutra that the brothers who encounter ghosts are all dependents of the past, and they want to rely on their blessings to save them. How to treat pluck
?
Universally, you use your divine power to send these family members to read this sutra with all your heart in front of the statues of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, or ask others to read it three or seven times. Such retinues of the evil realms will be liberated after the sutra has been recited this many times, and will never see them again even in their dreams.
(Same source as above)
From the above scriptures, we can see that hungry ghosts are not scary, but very pitiful. If you encounter a hungry ghost who appears in front of you, you should try your best to save him.
If there are any errors, please correct me with all the good friends. Amitabha will turn to you
God’s way of heaven in the six realms
Why are you disturbed by ghosts and gods?
Many fellow practitioners on the Ksitigarbha forum are troubled by ghosts and gods and some abnormal phenomena, such as ghosts and nightmares. So what is the reason and how to solve it?
"The Chang Agama Sutra" says: The Buddha told the bhikkhu. There are heretics and Brahma questions. All sages. If all men and women are first born. All are guarded by ghosts and gods. When he wants to die. He protects the ghosts and gods and captures his essence. The other person is dead. Why are there people today who are touched by ghosts and gods? There are those who are not touched by ghosts and gods.
The World-Honored One said: If a heretic Brahma comes to ask: When all men and women are born, they are protected by ghosts and gods. When the person dies, the guardian ghosts and gods absorb his essence, and the person dies. So why are some people disturbed by ghosts and gods now and some not?
I ask you this question and answer that question. The world does what is illegal. Wrong views. Do the ten evil deeds. Such is the human generation. If there are hundreds, if not thousands, there will even be one god protecting the ears.
For example, a herd of cattle. Flock of sheep. There are hundreds or thousands of people guarding the herd. So is he. To act illegally. Wrong views. Do the ten evil deeds. Such is the human generation. If there are hundreds or thousands, there is a god who protects the ears.
If you have such a question, you should answer it like this: If people in the world do not behave well, they will have wrong views. Do the ten evil deeds. Only one god can protect such people among hundreds and thousands. Just like one person herding hundreds of thousands of cattle and sheep. The same principle applies. If you commit the ten evil deeds and have wrong views, then only one of the hundreds of such people will be protected by a god.
If someone practices good deeds. See the true faith. With ten good deeds. In this way, one person is protected by hundreds and thousands of gods. For example, the king. king. A minister has hundreds of thousands of people to protect one person. So is he. Practice good deeds. With ten good deeds. In this way, one person is protected by hundreds and thousands of gods. That's why. There are people in the world who are touched by ghosts and gods. There are people who are not touched by ghosts and gods.
If someone practices good Dharma and has right views and confidence. Follow the ten good deeds. Then a person will be protected by hundreds of gods. Like a king, he is protected by hundreds of thousands of ministers. Therefore, those who practice the ten good deeds are protected by hundreds of gods. Those who practice the ten evil deeds rarely have protection. Therefore, some people are disturbed by ghosts and gods, while others are not disturbed by ghosts and gods.
The World Honored One explains here that the reason why we may be haunted and troubled by ghosts and gods is not due to Feng Shui, time of day, or any taboos we have committed. These are not the reasons. It’s because we don’t follow the five precepts and ten good deeds. If you can have correct views and confidence and perform good deeds. Then if you have your own guard, you won't encounter such problems. On the contrary, if we cannot perform the ten good deeds, it will be very difficult to find a solution that will work. Are the theories about ghosts and gods believable?
Yes, there was a believer in Jesus named Xu Qingyu in Dongguan, Yutai, Shandong. Before he believed in the Lord, he was a wizard. His soul could leave his body and travel a hundred miles away to heal patients. Once, a man came to him from Daxindian, Penglai County, 180 miles away from Yantai, and asked him to go for medical treatment. He meditated and fell into trance, and his soul went to Daxin Store to inquire. First, he met the City God (false god) of Penglai County. The City God sent an imp to accompany him to meet the earth emperor of Daxindian. Then he passed the door god (evil spirit) of the patient's house. Finally, he met the Kitchen God and asked him why the person was sick. The Kitchen God replied that because the man did not burn incense or offer sacrifices to him, he made the man sick. As long as you respect the Kitchen God and offer sacrifices to him on a certain day of the month, he will prevent him from getting sick. Xu Jun came back and told the reason. The man followed the law and his illness was cured. Xu Jun has this ability entirely because he relies on the big ghost in Dongguan, Yantai. This ghost was his friend and once took him up to the sky to see all the religious temples on earth and in the sky. There were temples, nunneries, monasteries, courtyards, and the Red Wanzi Society, etc. I also saw officials at all levels, and I also saw the Jade Emperor (the Ghost King) from a distance. After seeing it like this, Xu Jun became more convinced. One day his brother Xu Qingquan persuaded him to believe in Jesus. He replied: "You said that what you believe in is the true God, and I said that what I believe in is the true God. First, you believe in Jesus to fight poverty, and I believe in Bodhisattva, who is truly rich. Second, I have personally gone to heaven and seen it. Family and king." His brother asked him one last thing: "Have you ever seen various temples in the sky, and have you ever seen a chapel? Go and ask, where does Jesus rank among you?" Looking back, I have never seen a chapel. There are so many people who believe in Jesus, why are there no chapels? The next day, I asked the big ghost of Dongguan, why is there no chapel in the sky? Where does Jesus rank? When the big ghost heard this, he was very angry, his attitude suddenly became uneasy, and he severely scolded him not to ask anything about Jesus. Xu Jun asked the wizard of Xiguan to ask again, but he was also severely reprimanded. From then on, Xu Jun became greatly doubtful about what he believed in, so he came with his brother to listen to the gospel, and soon accepted the true God Jesus as his savior. So these ghosts came to settle accounts with him. They transformed into strange shapes to intimidate and lure him, causing trouble several times a day. Xu Jun ignored him and gave up after a few months. It is true that false gods are afraid of the true God. Jesus is the real and living God.
Unbelievable. Is the theory of ghosts and gods believable?
Bodhidharma's theory of breaking up the appearance:
Question 5: The six realms of interest and three realms are vast and boundless. If we only observe the mind, how can we avoid endless suffering?
5 Answer: The karma of the three realms is generated only by the mind. If you have no intention to be in the Three Realms, you will leave the Three Realms.
The three realms are the three poisons:
Greed is the realm of desire,
Anger is the realm of desire,
Crazy is the realm of There is no ***, so it is called the Three Realms.
From these three poisons, the severity of the karma and the retribution are different, and they are divided into six places, hence the name Liuqu.
6 Question: Why are the weights divided into six?
6 Answer: If sentient beings cannot understand the right cause and are obsessed with cultivating good deeds, they will inevitably lead to the three realms and the three light realms.
Why are you so lighthearted? The so-called
To practice the ten good deeds and seek happiness in vain is to avoid being greedy and born in the world of heaven.
If you adhere to the five precepts and indulge in love and hate, you will not avoid the world of anger, which is born in the world of human beings.
To be obsessed with promising things, to believe in evil and seek blessings is to avoid the world of delusion and be born in the realm of asuras.
Such three categories are called three light interests.
Why is it triple? The so-called indulgence in the three poisonous minds will only create bad karma and fall into the three realms:
If the karma of greed is serious, the person will fall into the realm of evil ghosts;
If the karma of hatred is heavy, he will fall into the hell realm;
Those who are obsessed with karma will fall into the realm of animals.
Such three levels, combined with the first three lightnesses, form the six interests.
Therefore, we know that all suffering arises from our own mind. But if you can seize your mind and stay away from all evil, the suffering of reincarnation in the three realms and six realms will naturally be eliminated and you will be liberated.
Gods, in fact, most of them are asuras who come to deceive us. You see: if you go to different Guanyin temples and ask the same question, the lots will be different. Isn’t Guanyin Bodhisattva hundreds of billions of incarnations? How could the answer be different [my master’s incarnation would not be like this]? The same goes for so many Jigong temples, and Fuluan’s temperament is also different. Jigong is an Arahant who eats vegetarian food and observes the Five Precepts, but he also eats meat and drinks alcohol. What a ham! Other gods are even more incredible. They did not achieve tens of billions of incarnations when they were alive, but now they have so many branch temples! What a nonsense.
●Theory of bloodline Question 6: Why can’t we pay homage to Buddhas and Bodhisattvas?
The answer is: The demon Bo Xun Asura showed his supernatural powers, all of them made him look like a Bodhisattva and undergo various transformations. This is a heretic, and he is definitely not a Buddha.
A friend who has become a Buddhist monk has learned this from me and he is very sensible. When he returned home, he followed the method I taught - Buddha came to cut off Buddhas, demons came to cut down demons, and the god showed its true form. . When many of our fellow practitioners were first initiated, most of them had the original "sympathy and passion" gods come to "grab" them (they wouldn't let us go). After being attacked by demons, they all showed their ugly true colors.
Some gods are even worse. They are not even Asuras. Many of them are lonely ghosts!
My master said that if there is a response from worshiping God, it is not good because he will take it back one day. Many people are entangled with them for life after life and eventually become their slaves. Therefore, it is best not to accept divine prophecies and not to believe in gods or spirits. Is the theory of ghosts and gods believable? I ask you all.
Of course it is! If you want to see it, I can let you see it! The theory of ghosts and gods is superstitious?
I have seen it and heard it. To. Feel/. Believe
Please accept it, thank you! Can you believe the theory of ghosts and gods?
If you believe it, there is it, if you don’t believe it, there is none... The theory of ghosts and gods
There are no ghosts and gods in this world, but there are many phenomena in this world that people cannot explain. In addition, people have thoughts, so the theory of ghosts and gods has arisen in people's minds. If you believe it, there will be it. If you don't believe it, there will be none. The key lies in yourself. .
In life, there is nothing wrong with doing more good deeds. Doing more good deeds will make people feel at ease and peaceful, so do more good deeds!
About reincarnation and soul
Does Buddhism believe that reincarnation is real?
The answer to this question is yes. Buddhism believes that, except for saints who have been liberated from life and death (such as the Arhats of the Hinayana) or have independent life and death (such as the holy Bodhisattva of the Mahayana), all living beings are not exempt from the restrictions of reincarnation.
The so-called reincarnation is actually the ups and downs of life and death, and does not really go around like a wheel.
The scope of reincarnation has six major categories. Buddhism calls it the six paths, which is from top to bottom: the path of heaven, the path of humanity, the path of Shura (god), the path of living beings, the path of ghosts, and the path of hell. This is all due to the five precepts. The ten good deeds and the ten evils and the five evils (the opposite of the ten good deeds are the ten evils, killing the father, killing the mother, killing the arhat, destroying the harmony of the Sangha, and bleeding the body and blood of the Buddha are called the five evils), the five precepts and the ten good deeds It is divided into three levels: upper, middle and lower, and affects the three realms of heaven, man and Shura. The Ten Evils and Five Evils are divided into three levels: lower, middle and upper, and affects the three realms of parasitism, ghosts and hell. Those who do good deeds are born in the upper three realms, and those who do bad deeds are born in the lower three realms. The enjoyment of the blessings or the punishment of sins in each category is the end of one period of life and death, and the beginning of another period of life and death. In this way, in the six paths, birth and death, death and birth are called Reincarnation and death.
However, Buddhism particularly believes that although there are six realms of life and death for sentient beings, the human realm is the main cause of the good and evil karma of sentient beings. Therefore, only the human realm is the dual path of creating karma and receiving retribution. , the other paths are just single paths of receiving retribution. The heavenly and divine paths can only enjoy blessings and have no time to create new karma. The lower three paths can only feel the suffering and retribution, without the ability to distinguish between good and evil. Only the humane path can suffer and suffer. Joy can also distinguish what is good and what is evil. Buddhism holds that the creation of karma depends on the feelings of the mind. If there is no time to distinguish or the inability to distinguish, even if karma is created, it cannot be the main cause of karma. Therefore, Buddhism attaches great importance to the responsibility for good and evil behavior in life.
Precisely because the main cause of karma is in the human world, all sentient beings who rise and fall still have the opportunity to fall and rise. It is not that once you rise, you will always rise, and once you fall, you will always fall.
The causes of the karma of all living beings in the world are good and evil, light and heavy. During a person's life, he creates all kinds of karma, whether it is good or evil, small or large. Either light or heavy. Therefore, there are also differences in the chances of receiving retribution. Therefore, after a person's life ends, there are three possible attractions toward the goal of reincarnation. The first is weight: in a lifetime, good deeds are heavier than bad deeds, and good deeds will be born. If the bad karma is heavier than the good karma, it will be born in the evil realm. If the hell karma of the evil realm is heavier than the bad karma, it will be born in the hell realm. After receiving the retribution of the heavy karma, it will be received again in turn. The fruits of light karma. The second is to follow habits: A person does neither great good nor great evil in his life, but he has a special and strong habit in his life. After death, he will follow the direction of the habit and be reborn in his place. Therefore, practicing good deeds Learning Buddhism mainly depends on daily efforts. The third is random thoughts: This is the decision made by the mind when dying. When dying, if the mind has bad thoughts, such as fear, anxiety, greed, anger, etc., it will be difficult not to fall into the lower realms. Therefore, Buddhism advocates that when a person is dying or newly dead, family members should not cry. They should give alms and cultivate blessings on his behalf, and let him know about it. At the same time, he should declare the good deeds and merits he has done in his life to comfort him and make him see through it and let it go. In addition, everyone recited the name of the Buddha to make him yearn for the merits of the Buddha and the Pure Land of the Buddha. If there is no serious bad karma, this tendency of thoughts before death can prevent the deceased from falling, and can even induce all kinds of things through the mind of the deceased. The vows of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas lead to rebirth in the pure land of the Buddha's kingdom - this is the main reason why Buddhism advocates chanting the name of the Buddha before death.
The folk belief is that ghosts become ghosts after death. This cannot be established in the Buddhist view of reincarnation, because the ghost path is only one of the six paths of reincarnation, so after death, only one sixth of One may be born in the ghost realm.
Does Buddhism believe in the reality of the soul?
No. Buddhism does not believe in an eternal soul. If you believe in the reality of the soul, you are not an orthodox Buddhist, but a "divine self-heretic".
Yes, in the minds of ordinary people, unless they are materialists, they always believe that everyone has an eternal soul. The "Gnostic Society" recently promoted in Europe and the United States, they study The object is the soul. Various religions such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism, etc., more or less belong to the category of soul belief. They believe that if a person does good or evil, the soul after death will be judged by God or the King of Hell, and the good ones will go to heaven. The bad ones go to hell.
Among the Chinese people, the superstition about the soul is deeply rooted, and there is also the biggest mistake, thinking that the soul after death is a ghost. In Chinese folk beliefs, the soul and the ghost are two different things. It is a big problem that is entangled and inseparable. What's even more ridiculous is that because ghosts have some supernatural powers, they think that the soul is a collection of "three souls and six souls".
In fact, ghosts are one of the six realms of beings, just like we humans are one of the six realms of beings. If you are born as a human, you will certainly have life and death; if you are born as a ghost, you will also have life and death (humans are born in the womb, ghosts are born by transformation). Moreover, people do not necessarily reborn as ghosts after death, as will be explained in the next section.
Regarding the soul, there are many Chinese folk legends. They often use the soul as a bridge between life and death. Life is the reincarnation of the soul, and death is the separation of the soul from the body. The relationship between the soul and the body is seen as Just like the house and its owner, the old house is broken down and a new house is moved in. The house is often moved in and out to replace the old one with the new one, but the people who live in the house come and go forever. This means that a person is a thing whose soul has put on a body. The body can be changed again and again, but the soul is immutable. It is thought that the soul is the main body in our life and death.
In fact, orthodox Buddhism does not accept this concept of the soul, because it cannot be established in the theory of dependent origination and cessation. From the standpoint of "impermanence of birth and death", we look at everything Things are subject to birth and death. This is true in the material world, and it is also true in the spiritual world. Looking at things with the naked eye will often give rise to the illusion of being "formed but unchanged". If you look at anything with a precise instrument, everything is changing momentarily. The "life and death" mentioned in the Yi Jing is actually behind the life and death. It also includes death and death, which is change or transformation.
Since the physical phenomena in the material world are endless, it is easier to detect the psychological phenomena in the spiritual world, because the emergence of psychological phenomena is due to changes in the spirit. Changes in psychological phenomena contribute to our behavior, whether good or evil. Good or evil behavior will in turn affect the tendency of psychological phenomena. Our future prospects rely on this kind of psychology to promote behavior, and behavior affects Depends on the psychological cycle.
So let me ask: Is the immutability of the soul and the eternity of the soul possible? Of course it is impossible. Not to mention that there is no fixed soul after death. Even when we are alive, our body and mind are constantly changing and changing from moment to moment. According to this, Buddhism does not believe in the soul, so what exactly is the essence of the six paths of reincarnation and transcendental attainment of sainthood that Buddhism talks about?
This is the special advantage of Buddhism. It does not value the permanent value of the self, but it also affirms the upgrading value of the self.
Buddhism advocates "the law of causes and conditions" and "the inherent emptiness of one's own nature". Buddhism sees the material world as the law of causes and conditions, and the spiritual world as the law of causes and conditions. When causes and conditions come together, they are born, and when causes and conditions disperse, they disappear. As large as a planet, a celestial body, or even the entire universe, or as small as a blade of grass, a grain of dust, or an atom, they all exist under the guise of the gathering of internal causes and external factors. Nothing can exist without the elements of cause and condition, so fundamentally, it is nothing. Scientists studying physical chemistry can give us correct and positive answers.
What about the spiritual world? Although Buddhism does not recognize the concept of soul, it is by no means a materialist. The spiritual world of Buddhism is named after the word "consciousness". Hinayana Buddhism only talks about six consciousnesses, with the sixth consciousness as the main body of the continuous flow of life. Mahayana Buddhism adds two consciousnesses, and there are eight consciousnesses. Taking the eighth consciousness as the main body of the coherent flow of life, we put aside the Hinayana consciousness and only introduce the eight consciousnesses of the Mahayana.
Among the eight consciousnesses of Mahayana Buddhism, the first six consciousnesses have the same names as Hinayana, but the function of the sixth consciousness of Hinayana is analyzed in more detail, and the seventh and eighth consciousnesses are distinguished.
In fact, there is only one subject of the eight consciousnesses. They are given eight names due to the division of functions. Because the good and evil of the first seven consciousnesses will be recorded in the name of the eighth consciousness. Next; the eighth consciousness is the warehouse of the causes of all karma. The manager of this warehouse is the seventh consciousness, moving in and out is the sixth consciousness, and manufacturing operations are the first five consciousnesses.
In this way, the function of the eighth consciousness is to store, but it does not mean that it is a miser who can only get in but not get out. Constantly hiding from the outside, and constantly moving out from the inside. What is hidden is the behavior that affects the psychology and is imprinted in the heart, which is called the cause or seed. What is moved out is the psychology that promotes the behavior and feels the behavior, which is called the karma or result. in force. In this way, it goes out, goes out, goes in, the seed becomes present, and the present becomes seed. This is true in one life, and it is the same when reincarnated into two, three, or even countless lives. From the convection of cause and effect in this life, to Countless causes and returns in the past and future lives are not derived from this law of current and present seeds, thus constituting the continuity of life and the continuity of life and death.
Precisely because the seeds and reality are constantly coming in and out, even momentarily, the nature of the eighth consciousness is constantly changing, not to mention the eighth consciousness in this life. Quality is different from before and after, even if the previous thought is different from the next thought, it is precisely because of the different thoughts of birth and death that we have the possibility of rising, sinking, and transcending life and death. Therefore, the existence of the eighth consciousness lies in the continuity of the causes and consequences of karma that change at this moment. Apart from the change and continuity of karma causes and consequences, there is no essence of the eighth consciousness to be found; just like water The current of water exists because of the continuity of water. Without the continuous nature of water, there would be no current. The purpose of Buddhism in teaching people to practice the path of liberation is to cut off the continuous flow of life and death of cause and effect. When the function of the eighth consciousness completely disappears and neither hides anything nor takes anything out, it becomes emptiness. , which in Buddhism is called "turning (troubled) consciousness into (pure) wisdom", which is not controlled by life and death, but can be free in life and death.
It can be seen that the eighth consciousness of Buddhism is not equal to the eternal soul. If superstition has an eternal soul, then the liberation from life and death of transcendence and sainthood will become impossible. Buddhism denies the existence of the soul conceptually, and denies the eighth consciousness in terms of purpose. Only by denying the eighth consciousness, which is a false manifestation caused by the continuation of troubles and ignorance, can we achieve complete liberation. However, after the eighth consciousness is negated, it does not mean that it does not exist. It is the manifestation of the intelligence that is neither empty nor existing, rather than the entanglement of ignorance and troubles. Do you believe in ghosts and gods?
It is better to believe that it exists than to believe that it does not exist. Because there are many mysteries in all things in the world that we cannot explain.
