Do the buildings in Nanning Wuxiang Square have any meaning?
Nanning has been known as the City of Elephants since ancient times. The most famous one is the legend of Wuxiang Ridge. The design inspiration of the five elephant sculptures in the square comes from the legend of Wuxiang Ridge. It is said that during the Warring States Period, in order to control floods in the south, Qin Shihuang brought five precious elephants from Lingnan to block mountain floods and ensure peace forever. The five elephants stopped when they approached Nanning. Qin Shihuang tried to pat the elephant's butt with his hand, but failed. He couldn't help but became furious. Only when he woke up did he realize that it was a dream. After waking up from his dream, Qin Shi Huang dubiously sent people to the south to investigate. As expected, there were five more elephant-like mountains in the south. From then on, floods in Nanning were reduced, and Wuxiang Ridge became an auspicious image in people's minds to protect Nanning.
