Dānlín ranked first in history with 57 gold medals in men's singles in international professional competitions. Dānlín won the first championship at the Korean Open in 2002 when he was only 19 years old.

Dānlín was the first and only athlete to win five championships in one event. The other two players who have won five world championships in history are Park Zhufeng of South Korea and Zhao of China. Park Zhufeng won men's doubles twice, mixed doubles three times, women's doubles twice and mixed doubles three times.
