History of Wenfeng Tower

Wenfeng Pagoda was built more than 200 years ago. The reason for its name "Wenfeng" can be seen from the couplet on the bottom floor, "It is a good place to drink wine, and whoever rises up will inscribe his name early." The appearance of pagodas in China can be traced back to the Eastern Han Dynasty when Buddhism was introduced. It was first used to store monks' "relics", remains or relics, and to enshrine Buddha statues or scriptures. As time goes by, people endow it with humanistic charm that transcends the scope of Buddhism. Many ordinary pagodas are famous for carrying rich culture, such as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Small Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, and the Leifeng Pagoda by the West Lake in Hangzhou. According to research, Wenfeng Pagoda, also known as "Wenfeng Pagoda", "Wenbi Pagoda", "Feng Shui Pagoda", etc., is the product of the dual effects of Taoist Feng Shui theory and feudal scientific examination system since the 14th century. The purpose of building Wenfeng Tower is to "complement the beauty of the landscape and help the flourishing of literary style". It is a landmark and ornamental building. Wenfeng Pagoda was built by Tahe Qianqian three large households with funds raised. Tahe and nearby towns such as Nanba and Kunchi have always been places that pay attention to culture. Kunchi once had the "Taocheng Academy" built in the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty. With a history of more than 150 years, and the slightly nearby Nanba also has a "private elite high school", it is only natural for Wenfeng Pagoda to appear again in Tahe. It is said that the construction of Wenfeng Tower has some origins. Wenfeng Pagoda is surrounded by Luzi Mountain and Dacheng Village nearby, and Wulongguan Mountain and Wenshan Mountain in the distance. It is surrounded by towering peaks and eucalyptus trees. It is said that the origin of Wenfeng Pagoda is related to these mountains. At the foot of Wenfeng Pagoda is a small river less than two meters wide, the "Ta River". It winds and flows into the main stream of the Qianhe River at the junction of Nanba and Ta River. The Five Dragons Temple a little further away stands near the water, because there are five of them. It was named after the evil dragons. According to legend, five evil dragons were causing mischief day and night. The water in the front river surged and formed a reverse flow, pouring from the main stream into the small river at the foot of Wenfeng Pagoda. In addition, the land of Tahe Township in the area of the small river was flat and the houses looked like. As soon as the river water comes, the houses collapse, the people's fields are destroyed, the chickens and dogs are restless, and the people are miserable. But the yellow sky is thick and the soil is thick, and none of the people who are passionate about their hometown have moved away. People only hope that one day God will have eyes. Strange to say, a villager surnamed Meng in Tahe suddenly dreamed of a white-haired master one night. He led him along the river under Wenfeng Pagoda, passed Luzi Mountain, and then to Wulong Temple. The master smiled and said: "In You can build a temple and a temple in these two places to keep you safe." After saying this, the villagers surnamed Meng suddenly woke up. The next day, the villager told this dream to his fellow villagers, so he had the money and the strength to contribute, and the "Five Dragon Temple" on Wulong Mountain and the "Holy Water Temple" on Luzi Mountain came into being. At that time, the weather was good and Pepsi was worry-free, and a stream of holy water emerged from the Holy Water Temple, which has now been developed into a mineral water product. The people of Tahe have lived a life of peace and contentment since then, but there always seems to be something missing in this good life. One day, a squire who understood culture suddenly raised a question: "Nowadays, the country's fortune is still prosperous, but the culture of my hometown is not very prosperous." When people heard it, they said: "Yes, especially the number one scholar who is envied by everyone." It is unprecedented and unprecedented." So people began to think hard about how to turn around this culture, but this trouble has been weighing on the people of Tahe for many years. There is still no champion or younger brother, not even a candidate. One day, an old Taoist man in tatters came out of nowhere in Tahe, carrying a bamboo brush and selling it, saying that as long as the villagers bought the brush he was carrying, he could help solve all difficult and complicated diseases. When the villagers thought that this deal was related to culture, maybe this was an expert who came from somewhere to give guidance, so the writings were sold out, and the old Taoist came up with an explanation. The old Taoist looked at the mountains around Tahe, then pointed at the particularly towering Wenshan Mountain opposite and sighed: "It's this mountain that's causing trouble! It's blocking the style of writing here, causing the style of writing to decline and the scholars to fall behind." Then the old Taoist looked at the flat plain. The Ta River and the tall and raised Dachengzhai: "This basin is a ship, and Dachengzhai is the bow of the ship. It is about to capsize! It would be great if there was a mast to float it out of the mountains and rivers." So Wenfeng Pagoda pointed to Thanks to the capital raised by the top three large households, Tahe came into being and Tahe became increasingly prosperous. Later, celebrities such as General Xiang Shouzhi were born, and now there are also students from Peking University and Tsinghua University. The Wenfeng Pagoda, which has gone through many vicissitudes of life, is now a famous cultural relic attraction in Xuanhan County, but unfortunately there are few records and little humanistic care. The author recently visited again and found that the surrounding area was littered with garbage, overgrown with weeds, firewood piled up inside the pagoda, and some people burning incense and worshiping Buddha had made the pagoda black with stains. There is very little pagoda culture in Dazhou. In order not to leave regrets to history, what can we do for it now? First, you can explore its historical resources, add text descriptions, and even use the opportunity to play the "Wenfeng" brand on the product.

Second, we can build a Wenfeng Park with Wenfeng Tower as the center, plant flowers, trees, and build some pavilions to increase the number of outdoor activities for citizens. In addition, there is a natural gas chemical plant in Nanba nearby. If the park is well built, it can Fame spreads far and wide. Third, we must vigorously protect this cultural symbol, strictly prohibit tourists from carving graffiti, dumping garbage, and placing firewood indiscriminately, and repair it in a timely manner.
