What taboos should be avoided in planting onions to achieve high quality and high yield?

What taboos should be avoided in planting onions to achieve high quality and high yield? Onions are rich in nutrients and can be used as raw vegetables and condiments. Most dishes have the shadow of onions. In the process of planting onions, there are some taboos about onions. If you don't pay attention to avoid them, onions will easily grow badly. There are three taboos to avoid when planting onions.

1 Avoid excessive moisture. As the saying goes, "Cucumber that does not die after waterlogging and onion that does not die after drought" is described, but it fully proves that onion has strong drought resistance, and maintaining the drought of onion moderately is beneficial to the root growth of onion. If the planted onion is left in water for a long time, it is easy to cause the root of the onion to rot.

Especially in the case of frequent precipitation in summer, onion ditch accumulates water for a long time. Onions get sick easily if you don't pay attention to the drainage pipes. The suitable water content for onion growth is between 40% and 75%, and frequent watering is prohibited in early autumn. In the growth period of onion roots, the growth and development of onion pseudostems must use more water and water frequently, but water logging cannot occur.

Avoid continuous planting and planting onions. Like other vegetables, fruits and crops, continuous cropping is easy to lead to onion yield reduction and many diseases. For example, planting garlic, onion and scallion in the previous crop can be regarded as continuous cropping. Onion can selectively digest and absorb nutrients in the soil, resulting in excessive consumption of similar nutrients in the soil. In the process of onion growth, due to insufficient nutrition, lack of nutrients, decreased disease resistance and more pests and diseases, that is, continuous cropping pests and diseases will become more and more serious.

After continuous planting for 3~4 years, more and more onion residues are accumulated in the soil, which will seriously affect the normal growth of onion and increase the cost of preventing various diseases. It is best to rotate onions and Cyperaceae crops for 3-4 years.

The application of chemical fertilizer, which is more important than chemical fertilizer, has been widely used in recent years. The chemical fertilizer has the advantages of established nutrient elements, high fertilizer efficiency, quick response, convenient application and easy storage. The raw materials for producing chemical fertilizer are rich, which is convenient for industrial production. However, the biggest disadvantage of chemical fertilizer is that it is not as rich as farmyard manure.

Moreover, there is no organic matter, and long-term application will lead to the decline of soil physical and chemical properties, soil degradation, and soil softness is far less than that of miscellaneous fertilizer soil. Although farmyard manure is not as efficient as chemical fertilizer, it is rich in nutrients and plays a good role in reducing the loss of nutrients in the soil. It can be applied continuously with fully decomposed farmyard manure, which will not harden the soil, but also make the soil more and more fertile.

After continuous application of farmyard manure, the growth of Welsh onion is better, and its continuous cropping resistance is obviously higher than that of soil with single chemical fertilizer. As the saying goes, "all crops and flowers depend on dung" is farmyard manure. Planting green onions can master three levels of watering, fertilization and intercropping, which will be more conducive to planting high-quality green onions.
