How to maintain and check the turbocharger
When repairing vehicles, we always check and maintain the engine as a whole. In fact, every time you maintain a turbocharged engine, you should pay special attention to the turbocharger. Turbocharger is one of the important technologies to improve engine performance, reduce fuel consumption and reduce emissions. Therefore, the application of turbocharger in automobiles is increasing. This paper lists the common fault phenomena of turbocharger and the corresponding reasons. Turbocharger-related maintenance items In order to ensure the working state and service life of the turbocharger, the turbocharged engine must be maintained regularly, and consumables such as engine oil, mechanical filter and air filter must be replaced according to the driving distance and time interval recommended by automobile manufacturers. In addition, when maintaining the vehicle, technicians need to pay attention to whether the turbocharger is damaged in appearance or immersed in oil. , and connect the diagnostic instrument to read the pressure data of turbocharger system. The premise of repair is to analyze the causes of mechanical damage and failure of turbocharger. Otherwise, the new supercharger will be damaged in a short time. The possible causes of typical supercharger damage are introduced below, and how to avoid supercharger damage in vehicle use is studied. Insufficient oil quantity: the supercharger can't effectively lubricate, which leads to the burning of bearings and the locking of turbine rotors. Oil pollution: Oil enters the lubricating oil passage of small turbine rotor with metal chips, which blocks the oil passage. Local oil pressure rises beyond the bearing capacity of oil seal, resulting in oil leakage. Damage to air filter: Foreign matter enters the turbocharger and damages the compressor side blades. The performance and main inducement of turbocharging system faults are engine power drop and other types of faults, which are partly caused by turbocharging system faults. There are also specific reasons for the failure of the turbocharging system. The possible causes of common turbocharging system failures are shown in the following table. The fault types mainly include abnormal action of turbocharger rotor, insufficient lubrication of turbocharger rotor, bearing damaged by hard foreign objects, insufficient deformation force of compressor exhaust turbocharger shell and fan blades/insufficient oil supply due to low-altitude filtration of pressurization, insufficient intercooler, pipeline blockage, and excessive pressurization pressure, and the overflow valve cannot close the oil supply system. It's still wrong The relief valve cannot open the stop valve of the booster system. The abnormal sound that the turbocharger can't control won't open. Poor exhaust gas circulation. The turbocharger is not lubricated enough. Turbocharger rotor or blade is damaged. The turbocharger leaks oil. Crankcase ventilation pipe blocks compressor side housing oil seal. The air flow pipeline blocks the lubricating oil path of turbocharger bearing. Turbochargers are sold in the aftermarket. Mahler brand turbochargers are sold in the aftermarket. In the field of commercial vehicles, the Mahler turbocharger product line has covered 70% of the hot-selling models.
