Architectural significance of Duanjia building

The main entrance of Duanjia Building is in the southeast of the whole building complex and stands at the main entrance of the mansion. The first thing you see is a unique, concise and lively pavilion, built on a platform made of bluestone and supported by eight square stone pillars. The joists above the stone pillars are made of wood, and the large and small beams are fastened with iron screws. The pavilion, covered with single eaves and tiles, looks like a swallow spreading its wings and flying, which shows that the foundation of Duanjialou has prospered. Opposite the pavilion is the Miss Building, which is full of western charm. The courtyard in front of the building is wide and the cypresses are towering. It is said that these ancient cypresses were transplanted here by the owner of the mansion from his hometown of Anhui Province, which is located in the southeast of Hebei Province. Strangely, nearly 100 ancient cypresses all tilt to the southeast. Bai and worship are homophonic, meaning to worship ancestors. Duanjialou buildings vary in size and style. Similarly, the bedroom of each building owner is in the southeast direction, and the owner of Duanjialou secretly borrows the auspicious spirit of the East.

Humanized facilities are the design concept of Duanjialou. The blinds are made of high-quality battens embedded obliquely in the window frame, but the difference is that the lower ends of the battens on the doors and windows of Miss Lou are inclined outward, so that you can see the outside indoors, but you can't see the inside outdoors. The designer's good intentions speak for themselves. Moreover, the hinges of the shutters are specially designed, so that when the sash is opened, it can be attached to the wall to facilitate the owner's outdoor activities. Each building of the mansion has a bathroom, all decorated with imported tiles from Germany, and the corner is lined with special arc tiles, which are beautiful and easy to clean. The heating equipment in the building is also double sets, including heating and fireplace, which shows that the designer's design concept at that time did not lag behind today. The architectural features of Duanjialou, a combination of Chinese and western, have studied in Germany in his early years and Duan likes the German lifestyle very much. When he was building Duan Jialou, he instructed to highlight the German style. Coupled with the classical architectural art of China, most of the building materials were imported from Germany, and the domestic materials were the best. Its main entrance is located in the south of the east and is made of bluestone. It is a German lotus shape, which looks like a blooming lotus from a distance, and is integrated with the simple and elegant, rough and vigorous bluestone fence. Miss building is divided into two floors, the first floor is composed of five-hole tall circular arches, which are prominent in arc and exquisite and chic; Surrounded by cloisters, the second floor has a unique charm. The general manager's office building is Duan Jialou's masterpiece, and it is also a treasure of the combination of Chinese and western architectural arts. It is divided into two floors, surrounded by cloisters on three sides, and the guardrail is exquisite and unique. In the middle is an arc corridor supported by a tall arched stone gate, which is tall and majestic.

Approaching Duanjialou, you have to visit its basement and tunnel. The seven floors of western buildings with different styles are connected by tunnels, forming an underground dredging network. The basement of the general manager office building has a total area of 450 square meters. Rooms are connected with each other, and the wall is provided with ventilation holes to ensure indoor air circulation, with no tide in four seasons, warm in winter and cool in summer. The total length of the tunnel is several miles, extending in all directions, all of which are masonry structures, leading directly to Zhengfeng Mine.
