Why is the air in Xi’an so bad?

1. 2. Vehicle exhaust: Vehicle exhaust is one of the main sources of urban air pollution. Xi'an is a densely populated city with a large number of motor vehicles and huge exhaust emissions. Especially in the case of traffic jams, vehicle exhaust emissions will become more serious, leading to a decrease in air quality.

3. Regional pollution: There are many large industrial enterprises, thermal power plants and centralized heating stations in the Guanzhong Basin, and pollution emissions have a certain impact on air quality. Biomass burning such as loose coal burning and straw burning in rural areas is also an important source of air pollution.
