Be careful, don’t hang gourds around the house!
Gourds are an important decoration in home Feng Shui. They are indispensable in any Feng Shui equipment store. Moreover, gourds are now placed in many households. A question arises, does the gourd really have Feng Shui effect? So what is the basis for this? What is the principle?
From the current point of view, it should be said that the gourd is a typical representative of "taken for granted Feng Shui". Nowadays, society is full of "taken feng shui", especially in Hong Kong. The so-called taken-for-granted Feng Shui means that you can say whatever you want, but there is no theoretical basis for it. It only states what it is and does not explain why it is so. I call this kind of Feng Shui "taken-for-granted Feng Shui". The gourd is a taken-for-granted Feng Shui ornament. Because I can't find its Feng Shui basis or its Feng Shui principle.
The gourd should be a product of folk beliefs, not really from Feng Shui. Because gourd, also known as Pulu, is an annual herbaceous plant, and its branches are called vines, which are homophonic to "Fu Lu", which is homophonic to "Fu Lu", which is a homophone to "Wandai". This should be the beginning of gourds as Feng Shui ornaments.
In addition to its homophony, gourds are related to medicine. Because ancient Taoists used gourds to hold elixirs. This is reflected in "Journey to the West", which is the gourd used by Taishang Laojun to hold elixirs. For this reason, the gourd has become a symbol of medicine. In ancient times, a pot (gourd) was hung to help the world, and a gourd represented a doctor. The current logo of Yunnan Baiyao adopts the shape of a gourd. That's why.
In addition, gourds have the function of storage, just like Jigong, who used gourds to hold wine. Tieguai Li also uses gourds to hold wine.
Immortals use gourds not only to hold wine and elixirs, but also to collect evil spirits and monsters. The Silver-Horned King and the Golden-Horned King in "Journey to the West" have their magic weapon stolen from Taishang Laojun's gourd, which can harvest anything. The cartoon "Calabash Boys", in which several gourds fight with goblins, comes from such myths and legends.
The above three points are homophonic. They contain elixirs to cure diseases and can absorb evil spirits. This is probably the origin of gourds as Feng Shui ornaments. But, to be honest, it has nothing to do with Feng Shui. So far, in the authentic Feng Shui books, I have not seen any words about gourds as Feng Shui ornaments. Of course, I am talking about ancient Feng Shui books, not Feng Shui books written by some contemporary Feng Shui masters.
So, does the gourd have any feng shui effect? Is it really as claimed by some people now that it can ward off evil spirits and attract wealth? The gourd seller on Taobao also said that it can also enhance the relationship between husband and wife, have more children and bring happiness, and dispel diseases and turn evil spirits away.
I don’t understand how the gourd can “enhance the relationship between husband and wife.”
There are two main functions of gourds: one is psychological suggestion. The other one, in both form and meaning, means storage. This has a certain Feng Shui significance. The so-called Feng Shui means that what the heart moves becomes wind, and things become water. Feng Shui is the mutual influence and interaction between the mind and external objects (this is my original word, please correct me if I am wrong).
Therefore, Feng Shui is embodied in two aspects, tangible and intangible. The tangible Feng Shui is the so-called Luantou, and the invisible Feng Shui is the so-called Li Qi. And now there is another saying, the inner five elements, that is, the function of the heart consciousness. At present, the Feng Shui significance of gourds is more about the function of the mind, that is, psychological suggestion. There will be some impact on Feng Shui, but to be honest, it won’t have much impact.
The positive meaning of gourd seems to lack empirical evidence. In other words, I have not seen any practical examples of how placing gourds can enhance the relationship between husband and wife, have more children, attract wealth, or ward off evil spirits (I am a positivist).
There is a lack of examples of the positive meaning of the gourd, but there are explanations for its negative meaning. In the scriptures of the Jinsuo Yuguan sect, when talking about the Kanshui of the Twenty-Four Mountains, it is mentioned that "it looks like a gourd, and short men should be afraid of her." This is about Zisha. The north likes sand. Sand is a Feng Shui term, which means Yang. The north is divided into three mountains: Ren, Zi and Gui. The north likes the sun and is good at seeing sand.
However, if you see sand due to the north, that is, Zishan, and the sand is like a gourd, it will be troublesome. "The short man must be afraid of her." Why? If the gourd is placed due north, it will damage the kidneys! True north is the ridge, and the ridge is the middle man. If the middle man hurts the kidneys and impairs sexual function, shouldn't he be three points shorter in front of women? This is why "the short man is afraid of her"!
When talking about Renshui, he said: "The shape is like a gourd, which also indicates injuries to the waist and epigastrium (the inside of the stomach)." That is to say, in Renshan, if there is a gourd-like shape (or gourd) , you will suffer from stomach problems and waist problems. The kidneys are at the back of both waists, so there is no contradiction between kidney injury and waist injury. Kan governs the kidneys, so it can damage the kidneys. Why does it hurt the stomach? Because the Kan position is the innate Kun, and Kun is the stomach, so the stomach will also be injured.
Putting the gourd in other positions has little impact. Its positive meaning varies from person to person. It depends on how you see it. However, there are two positions that cannot be placed. One is north and the other is west. Gourds cannot be placed in the north. This is clearly stated in the scriptures. At the same time, Liu Dongliang also gave some examples. Why can't it be placed in the west? This is my performance. Because, the west side is a congenital hurdle. You cannot place gourds on the acquired hurdles. Of course, the congenital hurdles are also taboo. Therefore, it cannot be placed in the west.
In this case, the sister had a throat problem. She hung two gourds on the west wall. I think they were hung wrong. There are two reasons. One is that the west side has a congenital hurdle and should not be hung up. The other one, the gourd, has a shape that is thin in the middle and not smooth, and is similar in shape to the throat. This is what Feng Shui calls Xingsha.
Mr. Liu Dongliang said: "Every word in the Feng Shui formula is often obtained by many people who have paid a bloody lesson and a heavy price." This is true! "What kind of Feng Shui causes duodenal cancer and low back pain" This is a case I originally looked at. There are many gourds in the north of the house, and his father had duodenal cancer and low back pain.
Liu Dongliang said in the article: "If there are gourd-shaped objects or pools in the north of the living room or office, it is easy to cause waist and leg injuries. The most likely time for the attack is on the day of the meridian. This is why I haven’t figured it out yet, but the phenomenon exists, and there are many examples. “Waist and kidney diseases caused by gourds mostly occur in the year of Meridian Day. The sister's throat disease happened to occur in the middle of the lunar month.
