The Origin of Longcheng in Yuxi Ancient Town

Because the city wall looks like a dragon, it is also called Longcheng (ground).

In the 25th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1392), the Yamen of Salt Company, which was built at the northern end of the field, was the "dragon head". The two wells on both sides of the yamen are "longan"; The foundation behind the yamen, which is slightly higher than other places, is the "dragon tongue"; A street facing south at Yamenkou is the "Dragon Body"; The gravel on the street is "Longlin"; On both sides of the yamen, there are two 300-meter-long streets called "Longxu"; The two ginkgo trees in the east and west of Yamen are "Dragon Horn"; East, West Gao Qiao and East-West Hongqiao are four "dragon feet"; The foot of the bridge is a "dragon claw"; South Street is "Wei Long"; The Sanguan Hall in the northwest corner of Yamen is a "left column" and the Great Compassion Hall in the northeast corner is a "right column"; The incense of the 24 temples in the venue is a "auspicious cloud" wrapped around the dragon. Yuxi Chang is surrounded by water on the east, north and west, and connected with Yunyan River dug in the Southern Song Dynasty, forming a natural moat. At the end of the street, there are four doors: Yingjiangmen, Zhenhai Gate, Duishan Gate and Dengying Gate. In addition, there is a Town God Temple in the east of the stadium and the west of Yunyan River, hence the name Yu Xichang.

② Yuxi "Dragon City" was named after "Longyougou".

According to records, in the second year of Tiansheng in the Northern Song Dynasty (1024), Fan Zhongyan, who became the salt officer of Xixi, assembled 40,000 soldiers from Thailand, Tongzhou and other States to build seawalls, which were 143 Li and 136, with salt outside and crops inside, and the people depended on it. Historically, it was called "Fan Gongdi". During the period of He Zhi (1054- 1055), Haimen County built a dike 70 miles from Lvsichang to Yuxi, and continued to connect with Gongfan Dike, which was called "Shen Gong Dike" in history. The connection point between Gong Fan levee and Shen Gong levee lies in the northeast of Xichang, the northern end of Longyou ditch, and the southernmost part of Gong Fan levee. Longyou ditch winds south from here until the ancient Yangtze River, which is now the maritime boundary river. Longyougou is a relic of ancient seawater tanks, and Yu Xichang is named after Longyougou.

(3) Yuxi "Dragon City" was named after Qin identified Yuxi as "the hometown of dragons" and "the place where real dragons were born".

It is said that during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, there was a famine one year, and there were rebellions in various places, which made the court restless. Emperor Guangxu and Feng Shui master Kang Youwei discussed countermeasures. Kang Youwei looked at the celestial phenomena at night and found a nemesis in the southeast, which was ominous. He asked the emperor to send Qin to find out the reason. Accompanied by Qin Zaibai, he went to Tongzhou, which is located in Jianghuai. By looking at the terrain, the setting of the city walls and the surrounding water system, he determined that the Yuxi field in Tongzhou was a "land of dragons" and a "place where the real dragon emperor came out", so he wanted to break the "Feng Shui"! Later, two despicable means of "opening two rivers" and "digging graves" were adopted on the court, which broke the "Feng Shui". Qin saw that "breaking Feng Shui" and "eliminating hidden dragons" were accomplished, and he liked it when he returned to Beijing. Yu Xichang is named after "Dragon City".
