Where is Lijiang Old Town?
There are many ancient cities in China, but the ones adjacent to the snow-capped mountains should be Lijiang Ancient City and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
Lijiang Old Town is located in the south of Caiyun, but it has long been famous at home and abroad. In 2018, it received more than 40 million tourists a year, making it a distant place in the hearts of tourists. So where is the Old Town of Lijiang?
The Old Town of Lijiang, also known as Dayan Town, was built in the Southern Song Dynasty, more than 800 years ago. It is located in Lijiang City, Yunnan Province, south of the Hengduan Mountains and in the middle of Lijiang Bazi on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. Surrounded by mountains, some flat land is precious. Lijiang Bazi covers an area of about 200 square kilometers, which is very impressive. It is the best choice to build a city here.
On the north side of Lijiang Bazi is the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is the mountain range closest to the equator in the northern hemisphere that is covered with snow all year round. It has the temperate marine glacier closest to the equator in the Eurasian continent.
What’s even more interesting is that the Yangtze River tightly wraps up the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Lijiang Bazi, creating a magnificent sight that also highlights the central position of the ancient city of Lijiang south of the Yangtze River. With the snow-capped mountains in the north and the jade belt surrounding it, the ancient city of Lijiang is truly a geomantic treasure.
As time flies, the ancient city has been well preserved. It is a famous historical and cultural city in China, and it is one of the two ancient cities in China that successfully applied for the world cultural heritage as an entire ancient city (the other one It is the ancient city of Pingyao).
Lijiang Old Town relies on tourism as its industrial pillar. Unfortunately, due to repeated epidemics, tourism is not smooth. I only hope that the epidemic will end soon, and I can travel to Lijiang and climb the Jade Dragon again.
