Of course, the first thing to do when going to Huangyao is to see the ancient town. The ancient town now charges 68 yuan per person (30 yuan for students), which is a very expensive ticket. There are no gate charges in the ancient town. Basically, people in the tour group are pulled by the tour bus to the square entrance of the ancient town to buy tickets collectively. Self-guided donkeys can freely enter and exit the ancient town from many intersections. But don’t think that you are really that free to enter and exit the ancient town. There are people in the town to catch tourists to pay for the tickets. There are especially many in the morning, so it may be better to enter the ancient town in the afternoon. There are several scenic spots in the ancient town, such as Dailong Bridge, Sitting and Drinking Tea, and the entrance to the village. There are many nice little scenes in the ancient town, making it a good place for photography enthusiasts. Even if you are not a sex lover, you can slowly appreciate the simplicity, coolness and remoteness of the ancient town. Next to the ancient town, walk along the river to Wenming Pavilion. The road is pastoral and the scenery is good.
Places worth visiting
On the mountain next to the ancient town (with a red flag planted), you can see a panoramic view of the entire Huangyao Town, and the local children are voluntary guides. , you can go hiking with them.
Wenming Pavilion: This is a small temple built on the mountain. It is a place where local villagers worship gods. When you reach Wenming Pavilion, continue climbing. There is a platform that local people use to pray for rain. You can climb up to it. See the creek and pastoral farms. There is a lawn under the Wenming Pavilion. Huang Yao's children will definitely encourage you to set off fireworks and barbecue at night. It is also good to watch the stars here. But after the barbecue, don’t forget to pack away the garbage bags and fireworks cartridges you brought, and take away paper towels and other debris (paper towels will not damage the ecology, but throwing them all over the grass will be irritating and unsightly). I have also said these words to the local children, but I don’t know if they will always remember to remind tourists. I hope that all travel friends will continue to remind them to pay attention to environmental protection and warn other tourists.
Zhoujia Reservoir: About three or four kilometers away in the direction of Zhaoping, you can take a tricycle for 1 yuan, or you can also walk. There are 20 public bamboo rafts in this reservoir, which can be used at will, but safety must be paid attention to. On the way to the reservoir, the pastoral scenery on both sides is very good. The unique yellow mud brick walls in the area, coupled with the vertical and horizontal streets, give a soft feeling. On the way back, we looked at the ancient town in the distance. Behind the town, there are towering karst peaks, which are simple and beautiful.
Festivals
When I was in Huang Yao, I checked the local old monthly magazine and saw two festivals. One is the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar, when operas are sung on the ancient stage; the other is the lunar calendar. On July 14th and 15th, there is a custom of worshiping the river god (lighting grapefruit lanterns and placing them in the river at night). The ceremony lasts about 2-3 hours. In short, Huang Yao cannot be played in one day, nor can it be felt after staying for one night. It takes time to experience it. The folk customs here are simple and ancient, making people feel that time is passing by. [Edit this paragraph] Huangyao Transportation Train
On September 28, 2009, Hezhou ended its history without trains. Tourists can go directly to Hezhou from train stations across the country, and then transfer to Zhaoping by bus.
Car
There is no direct long-distance bus from Guangzhou to Huangyao Ancient Town. It takes eight steps to transfer from Guangzhou to Hezhou.
Take the shuttle bus from Guangzhou to Hezhou at Huanshi West Road Provincial Station. There are five departures every day, starting in the afternoon, and the fare is 80 yuan.
Take the shuttle bus from Guilin to Huangyao at Guilin Bus Terminal. There are only two buses every day at 9:00 and 13:00.
Taxi costs 110 yuan from Hezhou to Huangyao; from Huangyao back to Hezhou, if you are lucky, the return taxi only costs 60 yuan;
There are two routes from Hezhou to Huangyao Road:
One is from Babu to Zhongshan (40 kilometers, about 50 minutes of driving, fare 4-5 yuan), then take the shuttle bus from Zhongshan to Gongqiao, and pass through Tonggu etc., 6 kilometers before arriving at Gongqiao is Huangyao (50 kilometers, the shuttle bus takes about 2.5 hours, the fare is 8 yuan), and the road conditions on this road are better.
The other way is to take the shuttle bus from Babu to Gongqiao (66 kilometers, fare 8 yuan). There is only one bus a day and it is a private car. We took a mountain road, passing through the Guild (41 kilometers), and then drove to Gongqiao (28 kilometers), and it was easy to be "sold piggy" at the Guild. There are many electric tricycles from Gongqiao to Huangyao, which is about 5 kilometers away and costs only one yuan per person. The road from Hezhou to Guilin was under construction, and the journey was bumpy for 4.5 hours.
The shuttle bus leaving Huangyao is also the above two lines:
The earliest shuttle bus from Huangyao to Babu is 6.30, 9 yuan/person. The bus speed is slow and sometimes even stops, so it is not recommended; the earliest bus from Gongqiao to Zhongshan passes by at 7.50. You can wait at the gate of the county government or on the roadside. It is best to arrive 15-20 minutes in advance. This bus is relatively stable. There are three buses from Huangyao to Zhongshan every day: 8.30, 11.30, and 3.00. [Edit this paragraph] Accommodation in Huangyao Recommended hotels. One hotel is the tallest building in Huangyao. You can see the whole ancient town from the rooftop on the 6th floor. It is also an excellent location to watch the sunrise in the morning. The fee is 10 yuan per day. The prices of other hotels are basically the same. There is a Huangyao Hotel on the street, which provides room and board.

Eat and drink: Huangyao tofu is a major local specialty, including tofu and stuffed tofu, both of which you should try. Huangyao also has fresh oyster mushrooms and glutinous rice mushrooms, and the vegetables are also very fresh and sweet. There are also grass carp and carp in the market. However, there are not many restaurants in Huang Yao, and none of them are very good at cooking. All the dishes are stir-fries. If you want to eat Cantonese claypot dishes, you can't find them. The food at Guzhen Restaurant is relatively delicious, but the hotel diagonally across the street is more deserted. Basically, you order the food before going to the market to buy it, but it is cheaper here than at Guzhen Restaurant. In addition, there is a porridge shop opposite the square, which sells chicken, frog, pond lice and other porridge for 10 yuan a pot. It is also open in the evening. There are delicious rice noodles and wontons served on the street every day during the day, and a large bowl costs one yuan. There is a glutinous rice dumpling shop in the market. The glutinous rice balls are big and round. You can buy five or six for one yuan. Huang Yao also sells camellia oleifera.
Huangyao fermented soya bean is very famous and can be used as seasoning. Every household in Huangyao has endless supply of sweet potatoes, and every household is drying sweet potatoes. Every day, there are children simmering sweet potatoes on the street, on the roadside, or at the entrance of the village. So in Huangyao, you will definitely eat less sweet potatoes. What is sold in Huangyao market is vegetable garden chicken, which already tastes very good. If you buy it from a farm, it will taste even better. People in Huangyao raise chickens and feed them rice, so they are particularly delicious. It is also worth mentioning that the Huangyao people are very hospitable. From sweet potatoes, porridge, rice noodles, glutinous rice cakes to dinner, from breakfast, lunch to dinner, if you are interested in trying farm rice, it is best to bring some small gifts to them ( Or buy some fruit). But it’s hard to tell after a year or two. With more tourists, the folk customs will inevitably deteriorate.
