Is the plaque of Guiyuan Temple vertical?
"There is Baoguang (Chengdu) on the top, Xiyuan (Suzhou) on the bottom, Biyun (Beijing) on the north and Guiyuan (Wuhan) on the middle. This Guiyuan refers to Guiyuan Buddhist Temple at the foot of Cuiwei Peak in Hanyang, Wuhan.
The Shurangama Sutra says: "There are no two ways to return to Yuan, but there are many convenient ways." Guiyuan Temple got its name from this. My understanding is: 99 is unified, and doing good deeds is not limited to the form, but generally speaking, doing good deeds.
Guiyuan Temple gives people an outstanding impression that its architectural style is different from other temples. First of all, the temple gate plaque, other temples are horizontal plaques, but here is a vertical plaque. However, in ancient times, only buildings with imperial seals were allowed to use straight books, which shows that Guiyuan Temple was once recognized and favored by the emperor.
