How to deal with the leakage of antifreeze in water tank

1, first determine whether the missing liquid is antifreeze. Compared with pure water, antifreeze feels more lubricated and has higher viscosity, but it is not as lubricated as engine oil.

Common antifreeze solutions are colored, and common ones are pink and blue. When the missing liquid is found to be these two colors, it must be antifreeze.

2. After confirming the source of liquid, the next step is to find the source of leakage. Under normal circumstances, 80% of antifreeze is leaked from the water tank, and a small part is leaked from the rubber pipe joint.

3. When the rubber tube is found to be leaking, find the leaking place, tie it with tape for emergency treatment, and make sure that it is no longer leaking. If the missing part of the hose is found in an inaccessible position, you can go to the repair shop in time, dismantle the shelter with tools or directly replace the hose fittings.

4, and the water tank leakage is the most common reason for missing antifreeze in daily life. A slight traffic accident or a strong impact may damage the water tank and lead to the leakage of antifreeze.

Usually, the materials of water tanks can be divided into stainless steel water tanks, enameled steel water tanks, glass fiber reinforced plastic water tanks, PE water tanks and so on. Severe vibration will lead to cracking of solder joints in the water tank, resulting in leakage of antifreeze.

No matter where the water leakage comes from, first check the water level in the engine compartment to see if it has dropped below the minimum value. If it is found that the liquid is insufficient, it is best to replenish the original liquid if conditions permit, and temporarily replace it with pure water if conditions permit.

Note: Be sure to unscrew the water tank cover when the car is cold. When the car is hot, the pressure in the water tank is very high, and the steam will be ejected instantly, which will cause burns.

The damage of water tank is a serious injury. If a crack of 1-2mm is found at the water leakage, you can add a bottle of powerful plugging agent to the water tank, and then ignite the engine to run normally for about 10 minutes. The water leakage will be blocked, and it will not be released after plugging, which will not affect the heat dissipation and will not be blocked.
