What is Feng Shui Line?
Also called watershed line, it is the ridge line of the watershed. It is the boundary between adjacent watersheds and is generally the line connecting the highest points of the watershed. The ground watershed is a ridge line where the terrain slopes to both sides, causing precipitation to flow into two rivers. Groundwater also has a watershed line, which is determined by hydrogeological conditions. The positions of the upper and lower lines do not necessarily coincide. Accurately draw the watershed dividing line and accurately measure and calculate the watershed area. The watershed line is the boundary between different water flow directions around the basin. In mountainous areas, it is the ridge line. In the plains, embankments or hills are often used as the watershed line. The watershed is generally a closed connection. The watershed line of groundwater is difficult to measure, and the watershed line of surface water is often used to divide the scope of the basin.
Due to topography, geology and other reasons, the watershed lines of surface water and groundwater in some basins do not overlap on the vertical projection plane. This situation is called a non-closed basin; when the two overlap, it is called a closed basin. .
Those within a basin that can flow directly or indirectly into the ocean are called outflow basins; those that only flow into inland lakes or disappear into deserts are called inland flow basins.
The world's outflow basins account for 80% of the world's total land area, and the inflow basins account for 20%. The area of China's outflow basins accounts for 63.8% of the country's total land area, and the area of inland flow basins accounts for 36.2%.
The watershed is the basic unit for river research and management. Studying and analyzing the characteristics of a river basin is an important basis for planning the development and management of rivers.
