Why was Huangshan selected into the World Heritage List?
Natural aspects:
Huangshan Mountain experienced a long orogeny and crustal uplift, as well as glacier and natural weathering, before forming its unique peak forest structure. There are many peaks in Huangshan Mountain. Seventy-two peaks are called "thirty-six peaks, thirty-six small peaks". The elevation of Lotus Peak, the main peak, is as high as1864m. It lives in the center of the scenic spot together with Tiandu Peak, the highest peak with bright top and precipitous, and there are 77 peaks over 1,000 meters around it. The peaks and peaks overlap with each other, and a unit synthesizes a picture with clear rhythm and great momentum.
Cultural aspects:
It is a sacred place of Taoism and has many relics. It is said that Xuanyuan Huangdi once made an alchemy here. Xu Xiake visited Huangshan twice, leaving a sigh that "the Five Mountains returned without looking at the mountains, and Huangshan returned without looking at the mountains". Li Bai and other poets left magnificent poems here.
