It's December. As I said before, this is my twenty-third year on the island. This is the solstice season in the southern hemisphere (because I can't call it winter), and it also happens to be my harvest season, which requires me to go out and spend a lot of time in the fields. One day, I went out early in the morning before dawn. I was surprised to see a fire on the coast about two miles away from me. At the end of the island, I found some barbarians. However, what bothers me is that the fire is not on the other side of the island, but on my side.

I sat for a while, thinking about what I should do in this situation. I couldn't stand being ignorant of the outside world any longer, so I leaned the ladder against the flat place on the edge of the hillside I mentioned earlier. When I got up, I tore it off, then set up a ladder and climbed to the top of the mountain. I took out my specially brought telescope, squatted on the ground and began to look for that place. Soon, I saw at least nine naked savages sitting around the small fire where they were born, not to keep warm, because the weather was very hot, they didn't need to keep warm at all, but, I guess, to roast the savage food human flesh they brought; Life or death, I don't know.
