There are several folk legends about the name of Heyouping:

Someone was sitting next to him, pretending to watch the outcome. The two old men stared at each other for a long time. "Let me know where you are." Looking closely, the three old men suddenly turned into giant cranes and flew away. Someone said: "This must be a lucky hole, so they were buried there. From then on, the hairpins are still there." He is a famous family in Fu." From then on, the place name Heyouping spread.

Secondly, "Dianjiang County Chronicles" records: "Legend has it that once upon a time there was an emperor who wanted to choose a beautiful place to build an imperial city, so he sent a pair of golden and white cranes from the imperial court to various places to choose from. This kind of The white crane can understand human language and can distinguish good from bad. It will never go to a place that is not beautiful. If it finds a good place, it will never return. One morning, the white crane came to the sky above Jinhe Youping and flew all over the mountains there. The mountains and rivers then landed on this land at noon and never flew again. People called this place "Crane Youping". After receiving the report that the white crane was not leaving, the imperial court sent ministers to check. At that time, I met an old woman cooking in Yaodianzi and asked, "Is it possible to build an imperial city here?" The old woman didn't hear clearly and mistakenly thought she was asking whether the rice was drained. He quickly replied: "No! No!" When the emperor learned that the old woman said "no," he thought it was unlucky and stopped building the imperial city here. "This story happened in Fuling, Changshou, Fengdu, and Dianjiang. , Chongqing and other places, it is widely spread.

Third, the legend of the old people in Heyouping.

In ancient times, there were two immortals playing chess on a big stone on the ground. They played for several lifetimes with no winner or loser. The people watching the chess game couldn't help but cheer and praise, which immediately alarmed the two old chess players. , let out a burst of cheerful laughter. After laughing, the two old men turned into a pair of white cranes, flew into the sky, flew around the flat three times, and soared straight into the sky. Heyouping got its name from this. The big stone on which the old man played chess, named "Chessboard Stone", is still in Jingfeng Village, Bai's hometown.

Fourth, a widely circulated story on Pingshang.

In ancient times, there was an emperor who sent people to select geomantic treasures in the world to build an imperial city, and he chose Jinheyouping. According to the etiquette, a grand ceremony to offer sacrifices to heaven is held to report to the Jade Emperor and ask for permission. The Jade Emperor received the report and sent the Antarctic Immortal to the human world to solicit public opinion. The mount of the Antarctic Immortal is a white crane. He was ordered to ride a crane down to the border, flew around the Heyouping for three weeks, and then landed in front of the door of Mrs. Liu in Baohe Village. At that time, Mrs. Liu was cooking and the rice had just been put into the pot. The Antarctic Immortal has been sitting in heaven for a long time. He is not proficient in the folk grammar in the eastern Chongqing area, and he did not bring a translator or guide with him. The Antarctic Immortal asked Old Lady Liu in a confused manner: "Is it possible to establish it?" His original intention was to ask whether it was possible to build an imperial city here. Mrs. Liu did not correctly understand the leader's intention, and mistakenly thought that she was asking whether the rice in the rice pot was drained. Since the rice had just been taken out of the pot and was not yet cooked, she immediately replied: "No." The Antarctic Immortal said. Taking Mrs. Liu's few words as the only basis, he immediately returned home and replied that the Jade Emperor "cannot stand". The Jade Emperor believed deeply in the report of the Antarctic Immortal and decided not to build an imperial city here.

The news spread to the world. Although the imperial city was not built, people did not forget the hard work of the Antarctic Immortal on his expedition to the lower world and forgave him for the bureaucratic mistakes he made. They named it "Heyouping" after his deeds of traveling across the crane. " as a permanent memorial.

The above legends have different purposes, but they have one thing in common, that is, the name of Heyouping is related to "Crane" or "Crane You". Where cranes roam, there are often green waters and green mountains, fresh fish and shrimps, lush forests and abundant grass, and friendly people, which reflects the harmonious coexistence between the natural environment and human society. From a modern scientific perspective, Heyouping is located near the 30° north latitude line. It is the junction of the Huangnichang anticline, the Qingkou anticline and the Gaofeng syncline, and the Bashansi syncline. The intersection of tectonic plates is a gathering area of ​​earth energy, which brings a certain "aura" to the creatures here. It is naturally a geomantic treasure place with outstanding people.
