Where does the Grand Canal of Jiangxi and Guangdong pass?
After the completion of the Gan-Yue Canal, ships from the Yangtze River to the Pearl River Delta will no longer need to bypass Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian and other southeast coastal areas, and the voyage will be reduced by 1.200 kilometers. The two major water systems, the Yangtze River and the Pearl River, will be directly connected, linking the two most developed water systems in China and forming a north-south water traffic artery in the south of the Yangtze River.
Extended data
Ganjiang River is the second largest tributary of the Yangtze River system. It connects the Yangtze River to the north and the Pearl River to the south. Since ancient times, it has been the traffic artery of inland river transportation of goods between north and south.
From 65438 to 0995, the Ganjiang River was brought into the national main waterway and became an important part of the national comprehensive transportation system. However, for a long time, the siltation of sand and gravel has seriously restricted the water transport capacity of Ganjiang River. During the dry season every year, only 100 tonnage ships with draft of 1.5m can sail from Nanchang to Zhangshu of Ganjiang River.
In 2000, the regulation reaches from Nanchang Waizhou Hydrological Station in the south to Zhangshu Ganjiang Railway Bridge in the north, with a total length of 92 kilometers and a total investment of 99.33 million yuan. The project was completed in 2002.
