Between the founding of the People's Republic of China and 1985, the administrative divisions of Huoshan County changed significantly. Among them, in 1949, the county had 5 districts, 29 townships, 2 township-level towns, and 143 villages; in 1983, the communes were changed into townships and the production brigades were changed into villages, and the county had 7 districts. , 1 district-level town, 42 townships and 1 township-level town, with 286 villages and residential communities under its jurisdiction;
