High jump knowledge: What equipment is needed for high jump training or high jump competition?

1. Crossbar: It can be made of wood, metal or other suitable materials, with a circular cross-section, a length of 3.98 to 4.02 meters, and a maximum weight of no more than 2 kilograms. The diameter of the crossbar should be at least 2.5 cm but not more than 3 cm. There must be a flat surface with a length of 15 to 20 cm and a width of 2.5 to 3 cm at both ends. The flat surfaces at both ends of the crossbar must be smooth and must not be wrapped with rubber or other materials that can increase friction. 2. Column: There is no limit to the material used to make the column, but it must be strong and made according to specified standards. Any form or kind of uprights may be used, but the uprights should have strong height-adjustable crossbar supports.

3. High jumping frame: The height of the uprights must be at least 10 cm higher than the maximum height of the crossbar, and the distance between the two uprights is 4 to 4.04 meters. The pole vault post is different from the high jump post. The distance of movement is called the rack distance. The maximum movement distance from the shelf to the landing area is 80 cm. The maximum movement distance of the latter does not exceed 40 cm. Athletes can choose the distance by themselves. 4. Crossbar support: It should be a rectangular plane, 6 cm long, 4 cm wide, and 1 cm away from the upright column. Crossbars must not be wrapped in rubber or other materials that increase friction, or use springs of any kind. 5. Bucket: The pole vault bucket is made of stainless steel, with a surface spray-painted or electroplated. The color is white. The dimensions are 1050mm long, 510mm wide and 200mm high. It is suitable for pole vault venues.

The direction of the toes in the last step of the over-the-back high jump is as important as the take-off. Incorrect foot position will also have a great impact on the take-off. Usually when beginners take off, their toes will naturally extend, forming a figure-eight shape for the ball. This driving technique will cause the lateral horizontal speed to be too high, causing the phenomenon of punching. Second, it is easy to cause ankle injuries.

The high jump area must be at least 5 meters long and 3 meters wide. There is no limit to the length of the approach runway, the minimum is 15m. If conditions permit, the sector should be no less than 20 meters. High-altitude jumps should be of sufficient height and should be equipped with crossbar supports to stabilize the placement of the crossbar. The distance between the two columns is 4.00 to 4.04 meters. The high jump is one of the most complex events in track and field. After the athlete takes off with the pole, with the support of the pole, he continuously completes more than a dozen complex movements on the pole, and then crosses the crossbar. Strengthening exercise is one of the effective ways to enhance physical fitness. This has positive significance for improving qualities such as speed, jumping ability, dexterity and coordination, and cultivating will qualities such as bravery, tenacity, agility, and decisiveness.
