What causes glaucoma?
Smoking and drinking, irregular living, irregular diet, moodiness, habitual constipation, intractable insomnia.
2. The etiology of glaucoma is related to anatomical factors.
Shallow anterior chamber, short axial length, thick lens and short corneal diameter lead to narrow anterior chamber angle, obstruction of aqueous humor drainage, elevated intraocular pressure and glaucoma.
3. Refractive factors
The incidence of ametropia (myopia, hyperopia and presbyopia) is high. Myopia 1/3 is accompanied by or develops into open angle glaucoma, and hyperopia is often accompanied by angle-closure glaucoma.
4. Age and gender
Most of the open angle types are around 30 years old, and there is no obvious gender difference. Angle-closure glaucoma patients over 45 years old account for 68.2%-76.8% of glaucoma patients, with more women than men. This is also one of the causes of glaucoma.
5. Genetic factors
Glaucoma is a polygenic genetic disease. The incidence of patients with family history is 6 times higher than that of patients without family history, accounting for 13%-47% of the total incidence, and the incidence of relatives of patients is 3.5%- 16%.
