■Zheng Zeru is a young man Photos taken at the time.
When Mr. Sun Yat-sen was advocating revolution in Nanyang, when he came to Pilao, he was received by Deng Zeru, who was regarded as a revolutionary and miner at the time. Sun Yat-sen was introduced to the "Yichun Thatched Cottage" owned by Deng's Tunan Garden. Stayed for a few days and discussed the secrets of the revolution there.
When people from the older generation of Pilao recalled Deng Zeru, the most representative leader of the Chinese community, they all felt that the early Pilao had created such a prestigious leader. I feel the same way about the last honor.
This residence built by Deng Zeru a hundred years ago and named "Yichun Thatched Cottage" is not an ordinary high-rise building as imagined, but an ordinary house with a large area and zinc roof and walls. It is only famous because it was the home of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the founding father of China.
This unique house was originally the residence of the Deng family. Later, after the development of Rolex Road, neat shops were built. The Deng family owned one of them, and after opening the Tunan medicinal shop, Change the Yiben Cottage into a private "Chifeng Building".
The decoration of the thatched cottage is not sloppy
According to the reports of seniors who have visited the thatched cottage, the decoration and layout in the thatched cottage are not sloppy. They are completely based on the ancient Chinese equipment. The furniture, appliances and decorative hardware are all from China. It can be said to be antique. How many people would have envied having such a house a hundred years ago.
■The original appearance of the "Yichun Thatched Cottage" in Pilao, where Sun Yat-sen stayed and planned the Shang Revolution. Unfortunately, it was demolished later, causing the Chinese community to lose a building with profound historical value.
■The original site of the "Yichun Thatched Cottage" where Sun Yat-sen stayed has been transformed into a small hotel and shop that has not yet opened. As for the location of the Yichun Cottage, it was built on the top of Tu Nan Yuan, facing the low-lying kampong area, and at the foot of the current Sawaleba Mountain. Opposite there is a Ma River flowing from south to north, with fields on both sides of the river bank, and mountains in the distance. The mountains are green and pleasant, and it can be said to be a scenic spot with beautiful mountains and clear waters.
It is rumored that this is a Feng Shui master from China. The direction chosen is said to be a Feng Shui place where the carp turns around. Therefore, the Deng family regards it as a precious place passed down from the family and is not allowed to be taken at will by ordinary people. This can be confirmed by the fact that Deng became a prominent miner in his later years and was promoted by Sun Yat-sen to high-ranking officials in Guangzhou.
The room where Sun Yat-sen lived alone at that time was also specially decorated. Although he only lived there for a few days, Deng regarded all the objects in the room, including furniture, tables and chairs, as if they were treasures and kept them. Come down.
According to a piece of information in the "Complete Works of the Founding Father" provided by the late Senzhou Chinese community leader Cai Tiankong, there are reprints of hundreds of letters written by Dr. Sun Yat-sen during his lifetime, including at least 17 letters. It was addressed to Deng Zeru, which shows that Deng Gong played a very important revolutionary role in Singapore and Malaysia at that time.
From these letters written by Sun Yat-sen in reply to Deng Gong, we can understand how great Deng Gong’s contribution was in sponsoring and raising revolutionary funds, especially in the famous Battle of Huanghuagang and the crusade against Yuan Shikai in the early years of the Republic of China. After that, he worked very hard to raise money to support Sun Yat-sen and the revolutionary army.
After the success of the Revolution of 1911 in China in 1911, Sun Yat-sen established the Republic of China. At that time, Deng Zeru was still living in Pilao and engaged in mining, planting and medicinal materials business. Because of his good dancing skills, he had become a local rich man; about Seven years later, Sun Yat-sen did not forget this hero who had fully assisted the revolutionary work, so he wrote a letter inviting him to return to China to participate in the administrative work of the government.
According to old-timers, although Deng Zeru had a rich family at that time, the British colonial government had a good relationship with him and regarded his status as the "head of the family"; however, he was a patriotic and loyal minister who did not care about national affairs. Since his private career was more important, he accepted Sun Yat-sen's proposal and returned to China to take up an official position. He handed over the management of the property, estates and Yichun Cottage to his nephew.
