Yangyuan County belongs to Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province.

Located in the northwest of Hebei Province, it is connected to Xuanhua in the east, Yuxian in the south, Datong in Shanxi in the west, and Huai 'an County and Tianzhen County in Shanxi Province in the north. It is 280 kilometers from Beijing, 78 kilometers from Datong and 0/40 kilometers from Zhangjiakou/KLOC. Yangyuan county is 82 kilometers long from east to west and 27 kilometers wide from north to south, with a total area of 1849 square kilometers.

Yangyuan County is surrounded by mountains in the north and south, and the Sanggan River traverses the whole territory from west to east. The terrain includes mountains, hills, plains and rivers. The general characteristics are high in the southwest, low in the northeast, high in the south and low in the north, showing a long and narrow basin with two mountains and one river.
