The "Royal Garden" of the Qin and Han Dynasties, the "Shanglin Garden" Gaoguan Waterfall in the Qinling Mountains, has been hidden for more than 2,000 years.
When it comes to Gaoguan Waterfall, many people may have never heard of it, but when it comes to the royal garden Shanglin Garden during the Qin and Han Dynasties, friends who like history will probably be familiar with it. It can be said that Shanglin Garden is one of the most famous royal gardens in Chinese history.
Shanglin Garden was first built in the Qin Dynasty. During the Han Dynasty, Shanglin Garden was expanded and built on the basis of the original Shanglin Garden in the Qin Dynasty. The area was expanded several times, with a circumference of more than 100 kilometers and eight rivers. many. However, with the passage of time and the passage of time, the large-scale Shanglin Garden has disappeared in the long river of history, and its traces are difficult to find. However, although the pavilions and pavilions of Shanglin Garden are hard to find anymore, the Feng Shui landscape still remains. This is the Gaoguan Waterfall located in Huyi District, Xi'an City, which was once part of Shanglin Garden.
Today I will use my lens to take you closer to this royal garden more than 2,000 years ago, and explore the shadow of Shanglinyuan’s past. Gaoguan Waterfall is only more than 30 kilometers away from Xi'an City. Because of the shape of the mountain where it is located, it looks like a giant wearing a high hat, so the waterfall and deep pool here are named after "Gaoguan".
Entering the gate of the scenic spot and walking only a few dozen steps, you can hear bursts of rumbling sounds. As you continue to move forward, the sound becomes louder. After passing through the woods, your eyes suddenly open up. The waterfall appears in front of you. This is the Gaoguan Waterfall in the Shanglin Garden, which was once the royal garden, and this canyon is called Gaoguanyu.
The rocks on both sides of the waterfall stand about 20 meters high. The rocks are like knives and axes, and huge water flows through them. The water flows down in the sky, with jade beads splashing and water vapor filling the air. The water flows under the waterfall to form a huge whirlpool, which is spectacular.
Gaoguan Falls and Gaoguantan have long been famous in ancient times, not only for their beautiful scenery, but more importantly, they were the main water source for Kyoto, a city with a population of one million at that time. Gaoguan Waterfall has been a scenic spot around Xi'an since ancient times. Cen Shen, a poet of the Tang Dynasty, once wrote a poem to describe the Gaoguan Waterfall he saw: "The waterfall hangs at the mouth of the cliff, half white. It rains all the time and thunders all day long near the village."
Gaoguan Waterfall was listed as one of the "Eight Scenic Spots in Hu County" in the Ming Dynasty and one of the "Twelve Scenic Spots in Ganting" in the Qing Dynasty. My favorite place, I guess if there had been internet back then, this would have been a popular place for internet celebrities to check in.
On the west cliff of Gaoguan Waterfall, there is a four-cornered pavilion named "Mingdao Pavilion". It was built to commemorate Cheng Hao, the acting scholar of the Song Dynasty, who visited Gaoguan. There is a deep pool under the Gaoguan Waterfall. According to the county annals, "There is a pool under the water column, which is several feet wide and unfathomable in depth." The local tour guide said that more than 20 years ago, a Xi'an tourist accidentally fell into the Gaoguan Tan Waterfall. , three college students risked their lives and jumped into a deep pool to save others, but they did not come ashore for a long time. So the local government sent professional divers to search for more than three hours before they found the four people who had fallen into the water, but it was too late.
Divers said that the water in Gaoguantan is extremely deep and the area inside is extremely large. However, this also confirms the local legend about a Gaoguantan. Legend has it that there is a stone gate to the east of Tanli. After entering, there is a stone mill and a golden horse. It is said that it takes three hundred years of grain and grass to draw out the golden horse. The tour guide also said that a giant salamander was once caught in Gao Guan Tan, and its weight actually reached 22 kilograms. From this series of circumstances, it can be concluded that there is a lot of space in this Gao Guan Tan. Today's Gaoguan Waterfall has long lost its aura as a royal garden and has become a popular tourist destination for local people and surrounding tourists.
After visiting the former "Imperial Garden", you only need to walk for five minutes to reach Gaoguan Village at the foot of the Qinling Mountains, where you can sip a cup of fragrant tea and eat an authentic farm meal. , take a deep breath of fresh air, this kind of life is simply the "Peach Blossom Land" in dreams in the eyes of urbanites.
