Where was the location where Tao Xingzhi founded Xiaozhuang Normal College?
Tao Xingzhi Memorial Hall is located at the foot of Laoshan Mountain in Xiaozhuang, the northern suburb of Nanjing. It is the former site of Xiaozhuang Normal School founded by Tao Xingzhi, a famous educator in my country. Tao Xingzhi was born on October 18, 1891 and died on July 25, 1946.
On March 15, 1927, under the guidance of the concepts of "life is education", "society is school", and "teaching and doing are integrated", the Nanjing Experimental Rural Normal University (Xiaozhuang Normal University) was founded and built with the help of farmers.
A few simple thatched huts were used as auditoriums, classrooms and dormitories. Here Tao Xingzhi studied with students, performed dramas together, worked together, and participated in progressive movements together.
On February 5, 1927, Tao Xingzhi presided over the foundation laying ceremony of the experimental rural normal school in Xiaozhuang at the foot of Laoshan outside Shencemen, Nanjing, and announced that "Xiaozhuang" would be changed to "Xiaozhuang", taking the name The meaning of "working at sunrise" was changed from "Laoshan" to "Laoshan".
