The legend of Qiyun Mountain
Legend of Qiyun Mountain
Legend has it that God Xuantian (Emperor Zhenwu) originally lived in Wudang Mountain. Once, he left the mountain to travel and visited famous mountains in the country.
On this day, we came to the top of Qiyun Mountain, overlooking the whole mountain, with steep peaks, strange cliffs and shrouded clouds and mist. On both sides of the Hengjiang River are lush ancient trees, curling branches, and thatched cottages. "What a fairyland on earth!" Emperor Xuan was overjoyed and hurriedly lowered his clouds and came to the mountain.
He swam through the Paradise of Cave Heaven, crossed the Peach Blossom Stream, and came to the True Immortal Cave Mansion, only to find that the Heavenly Gate was blocked and there was no way through. Emperor Xuan was eager to travel to the mountains. He used all his magical power and kicked off. He only heard a loud noise, and a hole opened through the stone, and he suddenly became enlightened. But on the other side of Tianmen, there are huge rocks like a siege, stone caves are hidden, pearl springs are flying, and Tianchi is clear and green. Emperor Xuan walked in through the door, and when he looked back, he saw that it was a stone elephant blocking the way.
Emperor Xuan was traveling all the way, and when he arrived at Yuehua Street, the mountains became more and more beautiful. The Yuping Peak stands in the middle, with Bell Peak and Drum Peak guarding the left and right. Five mountain springs stand out from the ravine, like an incense burner made in heaven and earth. In the distance, there are 36 peaks of Huangshan Mountain facing each other.
Emperor Xuan was overjoyed to see such an excellent Feng Shui treasure land and couldn't leave it. I thought to myself that after more than two thousand years of hard training in Wudang Mountain, now that the Tao has been achieved, why bother guarding a mountain alone anymore? You might as well build a palace here, occupy the incense, practice in Wudang during the day, and manifest your soul in the clouds at night. It's just that if you build a cauldron on this mountain, you must have an idol to rest on it, so that it can attract incense from all directions.
Emperor Xuan was meditating when he suddenly saw an auspicious cloud floating over. It turned into a white crane and the Fairy bowed to pay homage: "The Immortal has come to this mountain. It is a blessing for the grass and trees. Miao Le Tianzun knew the Immortal's thoughts and ordered me to come. Come and help." After that, the edict was issued. In an instant, hundreds of birds gathered together, their wings covered the sun, and they began to mold clay into their mouths. After a while, a statue of Emperor Xuan was erected.
Time flies, and I don’t know how many years have passed. During the Baoqing period of the Southern Song Dynasty, a wandering Taoist priest stayed at the foot of Qiyun Mountain at night. He suddenly dreamed of a god with his hair spread barefoot, standing in front of him. , said: "I live in Qiyunyan and have been waiting for a long time."
The Taoist priest woke up from his dream and went to the foot of Qiyunyan on Yuping Peak. He saw a clay statue that was the same as what he had seen in his dream. He was so happy that he lived on the mountain and collected donations to decorate his golden body. He also established the "You Sheng Zhenwu Temple", lit incense and worshiped day and night.
Since then, scholars and people from all over the country came to pray for blessings and heirs, and their requests were answered. The incense in Qiyun Mountain is becoming more and more prosperous, and it has gradually become a Taoist holy land.
