The piano can't be wiped with a wet towel.

Cleaning the piano with a wet rag for a long time will cause the paint surface of the piano to break off.

The most effective method of piano dust removal is to wipe the piano. If it is not wiped properly, it may also damage the piano.

The surface of the piano is coated with a coating about 0.6 mm thick, commonly known as "piano paint". Its function is to isolate air, moisture, sunlight, acid and alkali corrosion, protect piano parts, and also has decorative effect.

Wiping is a common protective measure for paint surface in daily life. The following is to introduce the wiping method of Liangqin for the majority of piano friends.

1. Prepare soft brush (wool duster), soft cotton cloth and liquid furniture wax (3M car wax) before wiping.

* coarse fiber products such as towels should be avoided to prevent scratches on the paint surface when wiping.

* Using wax has two advantages. First, small scratches on the paint surface can be removed; second, a wax film can be formed on the paint surface to prevent the metal parts of the piano shell from being oxidized and keep the paint surface bright. This is a function that water, alcohol and detergent do not have.

2. First, use a soft brush (brush) to remove the floating dust on the piano surface. This can prevent the paint surface from being scratched by large particles of dust when wiping.

3. Wipe the paint surface with a waxed soft cotton cloth (the matte paint surface should be wiped with a damp soft cotton cloth).

4. Wipe the keys from the inside (music stand direction) to the outside (piano lock direction) with a damp soft cotton cloth (which can't be squeezed out by force).

5. For the stained keys, wipe them with a soft cotton cloth dipped in a little toothpaste. After the stain is removed, you can wipe the keys with a damp soft cotton cloth.
