Working principle of Hall sensor

Working principle of Hall sensor:

Hall element usually has four terminals, two of which are the bias current of Hall element. Me? The other two are the output terminals of Hall voltage. If the two outputs form an outer loop, Hall current will be generated.

Generally speaking, the setting of bias current is usually given by an external reference voltage source; If the accuracy requirement is high, the reference voltage sources are all replaced by constant current sources. In order to achieve high sensitivity, some Hall elements have coating alloys with high permeability on their sensing surfaces. The Hall potential of this kind of sensor is large, but it is saturated at about 0.05T, so it is only suitable for use in a low limit and small range.

Advantages of Hall sensor:

1, Hall sensor can measure any waveform of current and voltage, such as DC, AC, pulse waveform and even transient peak. The secondary current faithfully reflects the waveform of the primary current. Ordinary transformers are incomparable, generally only suitable for measuring 50Hz sine waves;

2. There is good electrical isolation between the primary circuit and the secondary circuit, and the isolation voltage can reach 9600Vrms;;

3. High accuracy: the accuracy is better than 1% in the working temperature range, and it is suitable for measuring any waveform;

4. Good linearity: better than 0.1%;

5. Wide bandwidth: The rise time of high bandwidth current sensor can be less than1μ s; However, the bandwidth of the voltage sensor is relatively narrow, generally within 15kHz. The rise time of 6400Vrms high voltage sensor is about 500uS, and the bandwidth is about 700Hz.
