Qiannan is the Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in Qiannan.

It belongs to Guizhou Province and is located in the south-central part of Guizhou Province. It is adjacent to Qiandongnan Prefecture in the east, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the south, Anshun City and Qianxinan Prefecture in the west, and Guiyang City, the provincial capital, in the north. It is located in the slope zone of transition from Guizhou Plateau to Guangxi hills, with high terrain in the north and low terrain in the south.

The climate of Qiannan Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture is diverse, with obvious regional and vertical differences, and has the climatic characteristics and changing laws of plateau and mountain areas. Autonomous Prefecture is located in the East Asian monsoon region, which is the closest area to the sea in Guizhou Province. Most of the year is affected by the warm and humid air flow from the ocean. Due to the influence of monsoon activities, the four seasons in Qiannan Prefecture change greatly, showing the plateau weather characteristics of sudden cooling and sudden heating.
