Mythical stories spread along the banks of the Yangtze River
1. Wushan Goddess
In ancient times, the twenty-third daughter of the Queen Mother of Xitian lived in Yaochi Palace, named Yao Ji. In Ziqing Palace, she learned the ever-changing magic from Sanyuan Immortal Lord, and was named Mrs. Yunhua, specializing in teaching fairy boys and girls.
Yao Ji is active by nature and can endure the lonely life in the fairy palace. One day, she finally quietly left the Immortal Palace with her followers and traveled around the East China Sea. However, when she saw the stormy waves of the sea causing serious disasters to the world, she went out to the East China Sea and flew to the west.
Along the way, the fairies flew over thousands of peaks and ridges, viewing all the wonders of the world, so happy. Unexpectedly, when they came to the cloudy and rainy Wushan Mountain, they saw twelve dragons making trouble and harming the people. Yao Ji was furious, and she was determined to eliminate dragons and eliminate disasters in the world. So, I pressed the cloud head and pointed lightly with my hand, but I heard thunder rolling and the ground shook.
When the weather calmed down, the corpses of the twelve dragons had turned into twelve mountains, blocking the Wu Gorge and the Yangtze River, causing the surging river water to overflow into the countryside and city walls. Today's Sichuan area It turned into a vast ocean.
In order to control the flood, the flood control hero Xia Yu immediately came to the Yangtze River from the Yellow River. However, the mountains are so high and the water is so urgent that it is not easy to use the method of opening mountains and draining water. Just when Xia Yu was extremely anxious, Yao Ji was moved by Xia Yu's indomitable spirit, so she summoned six courtiers including Huang Mo and Tong Jin to use magic to help Xia Yu divert the Three Gorges waterway and let the flood flow smoothly to the East China Sea.
Xia Yu learned that the goddess was secretly helping him, so he climbed up Wushan Mountain to find Yao Ji to express his thanks. When I got up the mountain, I saw a tall and graceful bluestone in front of me. After a while, the bluestone turned into a wisp of blue smoke and curled up. Then it formed a cloud of green clouds, drizzle, and flying dragons, colorful phoenixes, and white cranes. Among the mountains and valleys... Xia Yu was wondering when the beautiful Yao Ji suddenly appeared in front of him.
Yaoji said: "You have merit in controlling floods, but you also need to understand the principles of changes in things between heaven and earth." As she said this, she took out a yellow silk scroll used to control floods and gave it to Xia Yu. Although the flood has been cured, Yao Ji has not left. She still stands on the top of Wushan Mountain, guiding ships to navigate, driving away tigers and leopards for the people, sowing clouds to sow rain for the world, and breeding Ganoderma lucidum for curing diseases.
Year after year, she forgot about Xitian and herself, and finally turned into the coveted goddess peak; her followers also turned into peaks, like barriers. , a guard, stood quietly beside the goddess.
The legend of Goddess Peak is widely circulated in the Wushan area, and there are different versions. In ancient times, in order to commemorate the "goddess" in their minds, the people of Wushan respectfully called her "Miaoyong Zhenren". She built a Ningzhen Temple (i.e. Goddess Temple). A platform on the mountainside was the teaching platform where the goddess taught Xia Yu.
2. Dayu controlled floods
One day, he came to his ministers and said to them: "Ministers, floods are now at the forefront and the people have suffered a lot. We must To control the flood, who do you think can take on the important task?"
So the ministers and the leaders of each tribe recommended Gun. Yao had always felt that Gun was untrustworthy, but at the moment there was no more suitable candidate, so he temporarily entrusted Gun with the task of controlling the floods.
Gun has been controlling the flood for nine years, but the flood still has not receded. Not only was Gun helpless, but he was also passive and slow in his work, making a fool of the country's arduous task. Later, Shun began to manage the government. The first problem he encountered was flood control. He first removed Gun from his post and exiled him to Yushan, where Gun later died.
Shun also came to seek the opinions of the ministers to see who could cure the flood. The ministers all recommended Yu. They said: "Although Yu is Gun's son, he is more virtuous and capable than his father." "Moreover, this man is humble, courteous, conscientious in his work, and lives a very simple life." Shun did not despise him because he was Gun's son, but quickly gave him the responsibility of controlling the flood.
Dayu was really a virtuous man. He did not resent Shun for punishing his father, but readily accepted the task. He secretly made up his mind: "My father brought suffering to the people because he failed to cure the water. I will work hard and work harder."
"
But he knew what a great responsibility this was! How could he dare to slack off? Considering this special task, Shun sent two wise ministers, Boyi and Houji, to join him. , to assist him in his work.
At that time, Dayu had just been married for four days. His wife Tushan was a virtuous woman and agreed to let her husband go. Dayu said goodbye to his loving wife in tears. , and embarked on the journey.
Dayu held the yardstick in his left hand and the rules in his right hand, and measured wherever he went. He learned from his father's lesson in using interception methods to control water, and invented a method of channeling. The key point of the new method of water control is to dredge water channels so that water can flow eastward to the sea smoothly. Whenever Dayu found a place that needed to be treated, he would go to various tribes to mobilize the masses for construction. Whenever a water conservancy project started, he and People work together, eat and sleep on the construction site, dig mountains and rocks, and work under the stars.
He lives a simple life, living in a short thatched house and eating more than ordinary people. Bad. But he is the most willing to spend money in water conservancy projects. Whenever there is a lack of money to control a flood, he will go to the house to fight for it. When he was passing by his home to control the water, he heard the cry of a child. It was his wife Tushan who had just given birth to a son for him. How much he wanted to go back and see his wife and child with his own eyes, but when he thought about the arduous task of water control, , I had to bow to the thatched hut at home, and with tears in my eyes, I rode away on horseback.
Dayu spent 13 years to control the floods. Under his hands, the roaring river lost its former ferocity and flowed tamely and gently to the east. The mountains that were once submerged by water were revealed, the farmland turned into rice granaries, and the people were able to build houses and live happily. A prosperous life.
People in later generations built temples and temples for him and respected him as "Yu God". Our whole China is also called "Yu Domain", that is to say, This is the place where Dayu once governed.
3. The Yangtze River and the Yellow River
In ancient times, there lived two twin dragons, green and yellow, in the Qingjian Cave outside Mount Xumi. They hate evil and often fight against the "sprites" on the coast of the East China Sea who do evil to the human world.
One year, there was a severe drought in the world, and the mountain gods and lands came to the heavens one after another. Tathagata Buddha knew that the two dragons were well versed in the ways of the world. Then the two dragons, green and yellow, came to the world. Soon, the two dragons found out that it was the two demons who were causing trouble in the world again. They caused the devils to scatter into the world and set fire everywhere, and used magic power to make everyone hide in their hearts. Planting "disasters", they do evil to each other and disturb the peaceful world of the world, so many people worship it and follow it.
The green and yellow dragons are determined to eliminate evil for mankind and restore the righteousness of the world. In the name of curing diseases and evil spirits, it can get rid of people's evil thoughts and illnesses. According to legend, the two demons poison people and cause them to suffer from a strange disease. Only by doing something that harms others and benefits oneself can the pain caused by the disease be temporarily relieved. p>
The green and yellow dragons in heaven saw the suffering in the world, so they disguised themselves as monks and came to the world to deliver medicine composed of cinnabar, pearls and seaweed to people. After treatment, many people recovered their conscience and relieved their pain. The story spread from person to person, and people rushed to tell each other. Three months later, thousands of patients recovered and lived a normal life. People also spread rumors that the two living gods had arrived.
The sprites heard that someone had broken their spell, so they sent two of their generals, the crocodile spirit and the toad spirit, to find out the truth. The toad spirit was full of evil and full of tricks. The ferocious crocodile spirit disguised itself as two patients and came to the place where the monk lived.
The toad spirit saw the two monks sitting in the shade of the tree, with green and yellow lights emitting from their heads, and knew each other. It has great magical powers, so it comes up with a plan. It tells the crocodile spirit that these are two little furry gods, so don't take it seriously. Let the crocodile spirit sit there and rest, and it can catch the two little furry spirits by itself. Angry, the Toad Spirit couldn't take the credit alone, so he showed his true form and opened his big mouth like a guillotine to attack the two monks.
The two monks knew that two goblins were coming, so they remained calm. When the crocodile spirit suddenly appeared in its original form and rushed towards them, one of them aimed at the crocodile spirit and shot a dragon ball the size of a marble. It fell to the ground. When the crocodile spirit saw that the situation was bad, it turned over and tried to escape. The other monk turned his hand and grabbed it until its brains exploded. However, the toad spirit took this opportunity to escape and told the "sprite" that it was the green and yellow dragons who were saving people.
The "Monster" was furious and personally brought 50,000 demon soldiers to challenge. The Green and Yellow Dragons ordered all the healed people to hide and never come out, so they set up formations in the clouds and fought in the air. "Sprite".
The green and yellow dragons each used their magic power to fight the demon soldiers for seven days and seven nights. Seeing that their demon soldiers were getting fewer and fewer, the two demons "Sprite" were unwilling to fail, so they came up with a vicious idea. The two demons "Sprite" each used their magic to divide their demon soldiers into two long snakes from the north to the south. A formation of fire dragons like a dragon slowly squeezed towards the center, turning everything into scorched earth wherever it went. They tried to burn the two green and yellow dragons and people to ashes.
The green and yellow dragons had been fighting the demon soldiers for several days and nights, and were exhausted. When they saw the sinister intentions of the two demons, they ignored their safety and turned into two cold rivers of green and yellow. , facing the two fire dragons respectively.
When they came into contact with the "Fire Dragon", water and fire met, causing a huge whirlpool, and the demon soldiers were swept into the river. After three days and three nights, the two "big dragons" gradually used their huge bodies to press the "fire dragon" under their bodies. After the demon was eliminated, the two dragons also exhausted their vitality and gradually embedded themselves underground, forming the current Yangtze River and Yellow River.
To this day, the descendants of Yan and Huang on both sides of the Yangtze River and Yellow River still rely on the nourishment of the rivers and continue to multiply.
4. The origin of the Yangtze River
It is said that tens of thousands of years ago, people still lived a life of covering leaves and eating wild fruits. Many people live together without houses and only build nests in trees. At that time, it was not known that people who farmed the land traveled around all day long, hunting and fishing to make a living. Later, a big crow flew from nowhere and landed like a mountain. Its legs alone were ten or twenty feet high. When it flew up and spread its wings, it looked like a cloudy sky. It eats tigers, leopards, elephants, and snakes. If it can't find wild animals, it will eat people. Hold the person in your mouth, stretch your head and neck, and swallow.
Since the arrival of this big bird, people can no longer live in peace, and they are always moving around to avoid the big bird. The big bird is becoming more and more ferocious and eats people every day. After many, many years, people learned to drill wood to make fire. On this day, everyone gathered around the fire to burn wild animals to eat. It became cloudy and a big bird flew over. People were shocked and knew that another disaster was about to happen. Unexpectedly, when the big bird saw the fire, it shook itself and flew away in a panic. It was discovered that big birds are afraid of fire.
Now, there is a way, and people are determined to drive away this big bird. So many people gathered and lit torches to catch up. When the big bird saw the sea of fire in front of him, he was so frightened that he flew up and ran away. People rushed to catch up, chasing each other closer and closer. The big bird's wings flapped hard, and a strong wind blew up, flying sand and rocks, and the fire was blown out. The big bird was happy for a while and ate many more people. After people suffered a loss once, they came up with another idea. They found many red things and put them on their heads. From a distance, they looked like fire to scare the big birds.
The big bird flapped its wings vigorously, but the "fire" could not be extinguished. It became frightened and ran away desperately. People shouted and chased him from the mountains to the seaside, and from the seaside to the Central Plains. They chased the big bird for who knows how many days, and the big bird was exhausted. On this day, the big bird flew to what is now Qinghai, but it couldn't fly anymore. It fell down to catch its breath, but people caught up with it. As soon as the big bird spread its wings, it felt sore all over and couldn't fly. Seeing that he was about to be caught, the big bird hurriedly laid an egg. The egg grew big when it saw the wind, and instantly became like a mountain, blocking people's way.
People brought axes, chisels, and hammers, and they kept chipping away at the eggs for three days and three nights. The egg finally cracked. The big bird was angry, tired and frightened, and died as soon as he stretched out his legs. When the big bird stretched out its legs to die, it kicked the egg. People here were chipping away at it again. When they exerted force on both sides, they heard an earth-shattering noise and the egg burst open. As soon as the big bird's egg collapsed, the egg white flowed out and rolled to the west; then the egg yolk poured out and flowed to the east. The egg whites flowing westward become the Yangtze River; the egg yolks flowing eastward become the Yellow River.
5. Mr. Hu who lived for 103 years
During the Republic of China, the most famous craftsman in the gold mining business was Hu San Taibao. His original name was Hu Taiyuan, but because he was well versed in the ancient methods of gold mining and had done several big deals, coupled with his unparalleled intelligence and eloquence, he gathered a group of ruffians and became a powerful force in numbers, capable of banditry and robberies. He is one of the gold mining sects, and the world respectfully calls him Hu San Taibao.
It is said that in his early years, he led people to mine gold in Zishui, Hunan, and found an unknown gold mine near it. After groping for three days, a gold nugget weighing three kilograms was discovered under a Buddha statue in a temple ruins at the bottom of the river. The image of this nugget of gold is surprisingly weird, resembling a token. In the center is a woman who has been executed. Two lines of red rust are sliding down her cheeks. Her expression is painful and she looks full of resentment. Especially below the token, a big word "death" is naturally formed, which is frightening.
At that time, a shabby old Taoist from Hubei came. He was horrified and said that the origin of this thing was unknown. It was originally buried under the Main Hall of the ancient temple. Later, the Yangtze River changed its course, and it was Buried in the mud at the bottom of the river. Unexpectedly, Taibao Hu San dug it out. Unless it was thrown back to the bottom of the river and never saw the light of day, a disaster would occur.
But Taibao Hu San could not believe it, so he ordered people to drive the Taoist out. Who would have known that not long after, one of Hu San Taibao's group went out drinking at night and did not return all night. He was found dead on the trail the next day. His body was already cold, and half of his head was bitten off by something unknown. He was too dead to die. Immediately after entering the water again, there was a veteran gold miner with rich experience. He had been a river soldier for generations. He was like a white stripe in the waves, comparable to a swimming fish. However, for no reason, his ankles were entangled in water plants, and he drowned at the bottom of the Yangtze River. When he was discovered, his skin had become white and wrinkled from the soaking.
At first everyone thought it was a coincidence. Who knew that from then on, things would always happen from time to time, and then people died one after another, either by drowning in the water, or by being raped over a disagreement. Some people were stabbed to death, and some even died on a woman's belly while visiting a brothel. All in all, the appearance of death was not pretty. Paper cannot contain the fire, and the matter gradually spread.
Everyone felt frightened and felt that just like what the old Taoist said, the nugget gold found under the ruins of the Daxiong Palace at the bottom of the river a few days ago conflicted with the old objects on the bottom of the river. There is a word "death" on the token, which looks very evil at first glance. Others say that since Mr. Hu San got the nugget of gold, he could always faintly hear the sound of a woman crying in the dark when he went to the toilet in the middle of the night, but no one could be found.
This incident became more and more sinister as it spread, and finally there was no other way. Taibao Hu Santa was also afraid, so he sent someone to invite the old man again to help him change the feng shui. The old Taoist asked Hu San Taibao to sacrifice three animals and lead a group of people to kowtow to the Yangtze River King to apologize. And put the "death" inscription back under the Buddha statue at the bottom of the river, and then it was done.
Oddly enough, ever since Hu San Taibao put the nugget gold back to the bottom of the river according to the old Taoist instructions, all the strange things have stopped, and no one will suddenly die violently. This incident was reported by the old Yangtze River People there talked about it and it has been passed down. Later, the famous Mr. Hu San suddenly announced that Jinpen had given up his life and lived until he was one hundred and three years old before he died.
