4. The former site of Caogou, the Anti-Japanese Base in Western Henan Province

Introduction

The former Caogou site of the Eighth Route Army’s Anti-Japanese Base in Western Henan covers an area of ​​108 acres. The core area has three courtyards, 33 houses, and 21 Kong cave dwellings, three gun towers, two underground passages, and a bunker are mostly built in the late Qing Dynasty. The old site was opened to the public in March 2004. In 2014, our county began the third protection and repair project of the old Caogou site. In addition to the protective repairs of the old site, the Eighth Route Army's Anti-Japanese Memorial Hall in Western Henan and the Eighth Route Army's Western Henan Anti-Japanese Themed Group Sculptures were built outside the old site.
