Langzhong [làng], a thousand-year-old city delayed by its name and "jealousy"?

The first time I heard about Langzhong was from CCTV’s advertisement: "Làng, Langzhong, I’m waiting for you here~~"

After hearing more, I recognized this word ——"Làng", I know this place——"Langzhong".

One day I came to Nanchong, Sichuan, on the bank of the Jialing River, and suddenly found that it was very close to Langzhong, so I immediately decided to go and find out.

Let’s first take a look at how grand it is:

Langzhong is one of the four best-preserved ancient cities in China (the other three are: Lijiang Ancient City, Pingyao Ancient City, and Huizhou Ancient City ); it is the eighth 5A-level scenic spot in Greater Sichuan (the first seven teammates are: Dujiangyan, Emei Mountain, Jiuzhaigou, Leshan, Huanglong, Beichuan, and Wenchuan).

It is a city built according to the astronomical Feng Shui theory of the Tang Dynasty, and is praised by the people as the first Feng Shui city; it is also the place with the most number one scholars in the history of Sichuan Province (because of good Feng Shui?); in the early Qing Dynasty Langzhong also served as the capital of Sichuan Province for nearly 20 years.

Because Luo Xiahong (hóng), who made a significant contribution to the creation of the "Taichu Calendar", was from Langzhong, Langzhong was also officially recognized as one of the most important places in Chinese Spring Festival culture. Township;

What’s even more rare is that Langzhong Ancient City is one of the few ancient cities in China that does not charge entrance fees.

Since it has such a great background and does not charge admission, why is Langzhong Ancient City not as famous as the three ancient cities of Lijiang, Pingyao and Huizhou?

The most obvious reason may be the name: "Lang". Probably at least five out of ten people look familiar but don't know how to pronounce it. The name containing rare characters is a very difficult problem for a tourist city, so when the Langzhong government makes advertisements, it always puts the Chinese pinyin Làng first. . .

In 314 BC, the Qin Dynasty established Langzhong County. The name Langzhong has been called in China for more than 2,300 years. Such an ancient name is reluctant and impossible to change because of tourism, not to mention " "Lang" is a rare word, but it has a very good meaning.

In "A Dream of Red Mansions", "Langyuan Immortal Pa" was used to describe Lin Daiyu. "Langyuan" refers to the place where the gods live. The term "Langyuan Immortal" first came from Langzhong.

Li Yuanying, Prince of Teng, younger brother of Emperor Taizong Li Shimin, was once stationed in Langzhong (called Longzhou at that time). He built a palace there and named it Langyuan. From then on, Langyuan became synonymous with Langzhong. . (In addition, Li Yuanying also built a "Tengwang Pavilion" in Langzhong, but unfortunately it was not the one where Wang Bo wrote "Tengwang Pavilion Preface".)

There are two different opinions about the word "Lang".

Langzhong is located at the intersection of Daba Mountain, Jianmen Mountain and the Jialing River. The Jialing River is surrounded by water on three sides. According to the "Old Book of Tang Geography", "Langzhong is tortuous and passes through the county on three sides, so it is called Langzhong." , because the Jialing River is also called Langshui, so it is said that Langzhong got its name from the water.

Xu Shen of the Eastern Han Dynasty said: "Langzhong has a high gate." The outskirts of the Jialing River are rolling mountains, which are like the gates guarding Langzhong. Therefore, according to Xu Shen, Langzhong is because of its high gate. It is named after the mountain.

"Green mountains surround it on all sides, and beautiful waters surround it on three sides." In any case, Langzhong is an excellent place surrounded by mountains and rivers. It once attracted the poet Du Fu to write poems for it, and the painter Wu Daozi also wrote poems about it. Painting.

Langzhong’s unique geographical location allows its site selection and construction to be carried out completely in accordance with the astronomical Feng Shui theory of the Tang Dynasty.

Looking down from a high altitude, you can clearly see the meaning of dragon, sand, water and cave in Feng Shui, and the natural Feng Shui pattern of basalt bowing its head, dancing red bird, meandering green dragon and tamed white tiger is formed! (I don’t know how serious it is...)

Langzhong’s Feng Shui Pattern▼

Today, more than 70 ancient streets are relatively intact in the Langzhong Ancient City with an area of 2 square kilometers. The lanes are criss-crossed with Zhongtian Tower as the axis and spread out in a chessboard shape, with a grand and regular layout.

However, walking through these ancient lanes , basically cannot feel the connotation given to this city by Du Fu, Wu Daozi, Li Yuanying and Luo Xiahong. Because what hits you is the aroma of Zhang Fei beef and Baoning vinegar.

Langzhong is the origin of Baoning vinegar and one of the four largest edible vinegar production areas in China. How much vinegar is there? For example, in other ancient cities, the most common ones are bars and inns, but in Langzhong Ancient City, if you look around, you can see rows of shops with the words "Vinegar Foot Soaking 10 Yuan"!

The only one that can compete with the "Jinegar Bar" is the beef shop with Zhang Fei's name.

General Zhang Fei once served as the governor of Brazil and guarded Langzhong for 7 years. Before Zhang Fei attacked Wu, he was killed by his subordinates Fan Qiang and Zhang Da. He was buried in Langzhong. People built a memorial in front of his tomb in memory of him. Visit the Huanhou Temple.

The people in Langzhong have a profound memory of Zhang Fei, and they also understand that the best way to remember something is to associate it with food, so Zhang Fei Beef, which is famous in Bashu, was born.

In addition to vinegar and beef, mushrooms, jelly and fried silkworm chrysalis are also fragrant on the streets. All of these indicate the "difference" of this ancient city. Compared with other ancient cities that are pursuing "literary style", Langzhong is even a bit "deviant".

However, if you travel more places, you will understand how valuable this kind of "deviant" is. I have long been tired of the aesthetic appreciation of ancient cities, but I got excited when I arrived at Langzhong Ancient City.

Outside the main street of the ancient city, there is almost no commercial atmosphere. The residents of the ancient city who have lived here for generations still live their original lives.

They do not regard tourists as cash cows or uninvited guests, but as guests coming from afar. Almost every door has chairs or sofas for tired tourists to rest. Some people even lovingly posted a note saying, "Come and take a rest when you are tired of walking. There is no charge."

In the ancient city circle, although Langzhong Ancient City has a large background and a solid foundation, its reputation lags far behind. This may be related to its uncommon name. It may also be related to its lack of "literary atmosphere", or there may be other reasons...

But it is precisely this that makes it the most down-to-earth and most "ancient" ancient city. . Go to Langzhong, your eyes and mouth will be satisfied~~
