Shaanxi version of Longji Rice Terraces - Fengyan Ancient Rice Terraces in Ankang Whirlpool Town
On the weekend at the end of June, I was just sitting around with my friends. The weather in Xi'an was extremely hot, so I decided to spend two days walking in the mountains. As soon as I got on the highway, I became more interested and went straight to the mountain. We went to Fengyan Ancient Rice Terraces in Hanyin County, Ankang, a famous terraced landscape in southern Shaanxi. Unexpectedly, we encountered the sunset and sea of clouds. Drink tea, watch the scenery, a pleasant weekend!
Departing from Xi'an in the morning, take the Ankang direction of the Baomao Expressway. It is 300 kilometers away from the terraces. The navigation is easy to find. Food and accommodation are provided in the B&Bs and farmhouses around the terraces. Tourism development here is now very mature. When you have done enough walking the next day, just return the same way. It is especially recommended that you go during the rapeseed flowering season from March to April, as the scenery is even more beautiful!
It rained heavily on the mountain on the first day, and the entire valley was shrouded in clouds and mist. The locals said that such heavy rain indicated that a sea of clouds was likely to appear tomorrow.
Towards evening, the rain stopped. After the clouds dispersed, the sun shone out from the clouds, and the whole sky turned red.

Get up early and have breakfast. There are many scenic spots worth visiting near the terraces, such as Fengjiabao, Wu Family Flower House, etc. The historical residential buildings are worth seeing.
Continue to see the terraced fields on the way back
On the way back, we walked up the winding mountain road to the top of the hillside behind the terraced fields. Through the clouds, we saw the rare sea of clouds surrounding the terraced fields.
In just two days, I saw terraced fields, sunset, and sea of clouds, which was a great harvest. If you choose to come here in spring, you can also add rapeseed flowers, tea picking and tea tasting, and southern Shaanxi cuisine. It will definitely be an unforgettable short trip memory.
