How to feed chickens to survive?

1. Brooding: The success or failure of brooding mainly depends on the survival rate, focusing on the following points:

① Temperature: After the chicks are bought back from the shell, the temperature should be controlled in the first week at 34-35℃. Starting from the second week, reduce the temperature by 2℃ every week until the sixth week. The method of insulation depends on the number of chickens. Fewer chickens can use cartons and light bulbs. That is to say, put the chickens in a box, hang a light bulb of about 60W, and put water bottles and food cans at the same time; most chickens can be heated in the brooding room and indoor coal stove, but the soot must be discharged outdoors through iron pipes. In order to ensure the accuracy of the temperature, in addition to observing the status of the chicks, a thermometer must be hung and feces must be removed frequently.

②Light: 24 hours of light is needed in the first week of brooding to ensure that the chicks eat and drink day and night and promote growth and development. After that, reduce it by 2 hours a week until you don’t turn on the lights at night. Light and insulation can be combined. If the temperature is not enough, you can add boiling water, wrap it in a container with cloth, and put it in a box to heat.

③ Stocking density: 50-60 heads/square meter for 1-14 days old, 35-40 heads/square meter for 15-21 days old, 25 heads/square meter for 21-44 days old, 60 days 12 heads/square meter after age. Dehumidified chickens can be raised in cages, flat or free-range, as long as the density does not exceed the above standards.

④ Feeding and drinking water: Chicks can drink water and feed 24 hours after hatching. Put the brooding material into the bucket and feed it freely, and put clean water into the water cup. You can drink cold boiled water 20 days before brooding, and then you can drink well water or tap water. Due to the low feed intake and strong metabolism of chicks, in order to prevent malnutrition, 8-10% concentration of glucose and water-soluble vitamins must be added to the drinking water in the first 10 days.

2. Add feed after cooling down: When the chicks are 40 days old, they can no longer heat, but the temperature cannot change too much. In rainy and windy weather in winter, the room temperature should still be kept above 15°C and the light should be natural light. The feeding method is as follows:

① Cage raising: transfer the cooled chicks to adult cages. Its advantages are that it can make full use of space, the chickens do not come into contact with feces, there are few diseases, it is easy to catch chickens, and the labor intensity of the breeders is reduced. The disadvantage is that chickens raised for a long time have a strong stress response and the chickens' chests and legs are prone to lesions.

② Pingyang: Pingyang can be divided into online Pingyang and above-ground Pingyang. Online flat raising is the same as cage raising, except that the chickens are more active and less likely to get sick. Of course, the cost is high; ground raising is to place wheat straw, chaff, rape shells and other bedding materials on the cement floor, and raise chicks on it. The advantage is that it saves costs and chicken breasts and legs are less likely to get sick. Due to the high activity level of mixed chickens, there is no need to change the litter. The disadvantage is that chicks defecate directly on the litter, which can easily induce some diseases.

③Raising: Place the chickens outdoors in the morning to expose them to sunlight and contact with the soil. Also, you can find some mineral feed and insects. At noon and evening, the chickens are driven back into the house to replenish their feed. The advantage of this way of raising is that it allows the chickens to return to nature. The meat quality of the chicken is very good and the price is high. The disadvantage is that the required space is large and the breeding scale is limited. This method is suitable for farmers to free range in small quantities.
