Geographical environment of Delingha, Qinghai Province

Delingha is the capital of Haixi Mongolian and Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Qinghai Province, 5 14km away from Xining, the provincial capital, and 387km away from Golmud in the southwest. Qinghai-Tibet Railway and Qingxin Highway run through the whole territory, east and west, north and south, and the latitude and longitude are like a net. They can enter the provincial capital Xining in the east, Xinjiang in the west, Hexi Corridor in the north and Tibet in the south, with convenient transportation. There are mountains, rivers and lakes in the territory, and grassland farmland is densely covered. According to records, as early as the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, the ancient Qiang people worked hard and thrived in this land of geomantic omen, and later became the beautiful homeland of Mongolian and Tibetan ancestors engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. There are 232 glaciers in Delingha, with a total area of 248.3km2 and a glacier reserve of/kloc-0 14.2732km3 There are four lakes with larger areas: Hala Lake, Crook Lake, Tuosu Lake and Gahai Lake.
