The flood discharge path of Huangbizhuang Reservoir mainly includes flood discharge tunnels, flood drainage channels and downstream rivers.
Huangbizhuang Reservoir is an important water conservancy project located in Henan Province, China, and one of the largest reservoirs in my country. At the critical moment of flood control, in order to ensure the safety of surrounding residents, the reservoir needs to release floods to reduce the water level pressure in the reservoir. There is a clear path for flood discharge from Huangbizhuang Reservoir. First, there is a spillway hole in the reservoir, located at the bottom of the reservoir dam. When the reservoir water level exceeds the safe level, the spillway will automatically open to drain excess water. This avoids the risk of reservoir failure.
Secondly, the floodwater flows into the downstream flood drainage channel through the spillway tunnel. The flood drainage channel is a specially designed river channel with a large flow capacity. In this way, the floodwater can flow out of the reservoir smoothly, thereby reducing the water level pressure in the reservoir. Finally, the discharged water flows down the flood drainage channel until it reaches the downstream river.
During this process, the reservoir will monitor the volume and level of flood discharge in real time to ensure the safety and effectiveness of flood discharge. At the same time, relevant departments will notify downstream areas in advance and take necessary measures to reduce the possible impact of flood discharges.
