Huangbizhuang Reservoir Flood Release Path

The flood discharge path of Huangbizhuang Reservoir mainly includes flood discharge tunnels, flood drainage channels and downstream rivers.

Huangbizhuang Reservoir is an important water conservancy project located in Henan Province, China, and one of the largest reservoirs in my country. At the critical moment of flood control, in order to ensure the safety of surrounding residents, the reservoir needs to release floods to reduce the water level pressure in the reservoir. There is a clear path for flood discharge from Huangbizhuang Reservoir. First, there is a spillway hole in the reservoir, located at the bottom of the reservoir dam. When the reservoir water level exceeds the safe level, the spillway will automatically open to drain excess water. This avoids the risk of reservoir failure.

Secondly, the floodwater flows into the downstream flood drainage channel through the spillway tunnel. The flood drainage channel is a specially designed river channel with a large flow capacity. In this way, the floodwater can flow out of the reservoir smoothly, thereby reducing the water level pressure in the reservoir. Finally, the discharged water flows down the flood drainage channel until it reaches the downstream river.

During this process, the reservoir will monitor the volume and level of flood discharge in real time to ensure the safety and effectiveness of flood discharge. At the same time, relevant departments will notify downstream areas in advance and take necessary measures to reduce the possible impact of flood discharges.

Flood prevention measures

1. Understand flood risks in advance: Understand the historical flood conditions and flood risk levels in your area so that you can prepare for preventive measures.

2. Reinforce houses and buildings: Ensure the structural safety of houses and buildings, including reinforcing roofs, walls and foundations, and repairing or replacing aging drainage systems.

3. Prepare emergency supplies: Reserve food, drinking water, medical supplies, emergency medicines, batteries, flashlights and other emergency supplies to prepare for possible water and power outages during floods.

4. Clean the ditches and sewers: Clean the ditches and sewers around the house regularly to keep the water flowing and avoid flooding caused by accumulated water.

5. Evacuate to high places: If there is a greater risk of flooding in your area, try to avoid staying in low-lying areas and seek refuge in high places, such as climbing upstairs or climbing a slope.

6. Monitor weather forecasts and warnings: Pay attention to weather forecasts and flood warnings in a timely manner so that you can prepare and take necessary actions in advance.

7. Carry important items: Carry important documents, valuables and personal emergency items with you to avoid being damaged or lost by floods.
