What is the origin of Shunde?
Shunde was settled as early as the Song Dynasty. At the end of the Southern Song Dynasty, people fled with the imperial court, which made the population of Shunde grow rapidly. In the 14th year of Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1449), Huang Xiaoyang Uprising broke out. After the failure of the uprising, in order to strengthen the rule, in the third year of Jingtai (AD 1452), the court designated four capitals of Tung Chung, Ma Ning, Ding 'an and Xilin in the South China Sea and a Baitengbao in Xinhui, which was set in Shunde County, meaning "the virtue of harmony with heaven".
