Wuhu, referred to as Jiangcheng for short, is a prefecture-level city in Anhui Province, one of the 27 cities in the central area of the Yangtze River Delta, an important scientific research and education base and industrial base in East China, a central city of G60 Science and Technology Corridor, a national comprehensive transportation hub, and a national independent innovation demonstration zone of Hefei, Wuhu and Bengbu. Since ancient times, it has enjoyed the reputation of "Jiangdong Famous Town" and "Wuchu Famous District". It is a famous pulp and dyeing center in the middle and late Ming dynasty and the first of the "four rice markets in the south of the Yangtze River" in modern times.
Wuhu is located in East China, southeast of Anhui Province and downstream of the Yangtze River, adjacent to Maanshan and Nanjing, Tongling, Chizhou and Anqing, Xuancheng and Huzhou, Hefei and Chuzhou respectively. Wuhu is an integral part of the plain in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River, with scattered low hills and residual hills. It belongs to the north subtropical humid monsoon climate. Wuhu Port in China is the fifth largest port for Yangtze River water transport, the largest transit port for freight, foreign trade and containers in Anhui Province, and a national first-class port.
