Feng Shui Question: Is the door of the new house open indoors or outdoors?
The basic structure of the door of the house is very simple: a door plate is connected to the door frame with several "bolt" hinges. This design has many advantages: it is easy to build, install and maintain. Of course, disassembly is also very simple: remove the hinge pin and the door panel can be completely removed from the door frame.
This may be very useful for the homeowner (for example, you can remove the door panel and move the big sofa into the house). However, you don't want intruders to use it. Therefore, the hinge mechanism must be located in the house. For a standard hinge design, this means that the door needs to open inward.
Of course, public buildings have the same safety considerations, but other safety factors need to be considered. Unlike private houses, there may be many people in public buildings. In case of fire or other emergency, people in the building must be evacuated as soon as possible and as easily as possible.
When people flock to the exit, it is difficult for you to open the door inward, because everyone will push the door outward and there is no room to open the door inward. Therefore, effective emergency exits need to be opened outward and conform to the strength of the crowd. This is why many emergency exits use wide "fire handles" instead of ordinary door handles. The basic idea of building an exit is to let the most out of control escape.
Considering the safety of buildings, public exits usually adopt hidden hinges or protective hinges. They are more difficult to disassemble than simple latch hinges. These doors are expensive to install and maintain, so it is not feasible to use them in houses. As long as there are no uncontrollable people in your home, these open doors will not do any tangible benefits to your home.
