The Origin of Gulongshan Pagoda
According to county records, Wulong Mountain Scenic Resort Baota Temple was built in the Song Dynasty, and there is a saying that it didn't grow tall until the end of Longshan. According to research, this is not credible. Because Longshan is so high now, it may not be much higher in the past. There is no need to limit such a small mountain and the surrounding rivers. There are a few points to explain. In ancient times, it was necessary to choose a treasure house to build a tower, which was related to the Buddha. When the tower is built, it is bound to climb high and look far, so most of the towers are built on high places. Look at Jintan City again. In ancient times, Wulong Mountain Scenic Resort was the closest to the city wall. So a tower was built here, which is close to the city. You can see the scenery and the enemy in wartime. It is also a treasure place for Buddhists to pray.
The advantage of Wulong Mountain Scenic Resort is that it is at the foot of the city wall. Because of this, the highest institution of higher learning in the county was established at that time. The academy needs to be close to the city, quiet and beautiful, and more importantly, it has good feng shui. Zhu Yuanzhang came to Wulong Mountain Scenic Resort in the Ming Dynasty and erected a monument on the mountain. At that time, there were no temples, only stupas. It can be seen that in the low-rise urban buildings at that time, pagodas can be seen far away, which is very eye-catching.
There is an ancient tree in Daijiaxiang, west of Nanyao Village. 1990, the ancient tree is about 3.3m high, with thin skin and Gu Zhuo bending. There are several big holes in the tree. It seems that the tree has been recognized by Thunder, only the bark of 1/3 is preserved, and it is hollow and crumbling. At that time, the head of the tree was lush, like the head of a locust tree. Legend has it that Liu Bowen tied his horse to this tree. At that time, in order to stabilize Daming Mountain, Liu Bowen destroyed Long Mai Feng Shui everywhere, and Jintan was no exception. How it was destroyed is still a mystery.
The pagoda has experienced wind and rain, historical vicissitudes and two major overhauls. First, it was built in the forty years of Kangxi. In addition, from 65438 to 0987 in the last century, it was funded by the government, and Hong Kong Yingcheng Master, a religious figure in Jintan, contributed HK$ 500,000, which was resumed the following year. This is a cultural heritage of great value. 1956 was rated as a cultural relics protection unit by the people's government of Jiangsu Province. Baota Temple was also built for the Qing Dynasty, and was renovated at the same time in 1987. Now, the incense here is flourishing and one side is blessed, which is a treasure place frequented by believers and tourists in eight neighboring towns.
Nowadays, people can go to the top of the mountain to overlook and experience the feelings of the ancients overlooking the city and guarding their homes every festive season.
On the one hand, the Longshan Pagoda and Pagoda Temple were repaired in the 1980s. On the other hand, religious undertakings have flourished. In recent years, the construction of Gulong has been increasing, and Gulongshan Park is also being developed and utilized. For the local area, on the one hand, it is necessary to further transform Longshan Scenic Area and establish scenic spots, and at the same time, it is necessary to eliminate the original unfavorable factors, find back the geographical advantage of the intersection of Shuanglong, and establish a favorable dragon situation in Long Mai for the benefit of future generations. No one denies Feng Shui, and many people like the Book of Changes. For this reason, developing tourism is the slogan, and restoring geographical position is practical.
