Why did Yongzheng not dare to be buried in the same cemetery as his father after his death?
After the Qing Dynasty moved south of the Great Wall, they built two royal gardens, one was the Eastern Qing Tomb and the other was the Western Qing Tomb. So, why did Yongzheng not dare to be buried in the same cemetery as his father after his death?
The first one is that I don’t dare to see my father. Many ancient people believed that after they died, they had to enter the ancestral hall and face the torture of their ancestors. Yongzheng also had such concerns because he killed many of his brothers when he was in power and was worried about seeing his father after his death. When, my father asked himself, how should I answer? Lies are meaningless at that time. After the true intention is spoken, maybe what will happen! So it’s better to disappear.
The second is that Yongzheng believed that the location of the Qingdong Mausoleum where Kangxi was located was not good in feng shui. Therefore, he chose to build his own mausoleum elsewhere. This statement is also acceptable. After all, people in ancient times still believed in Feng Shui, and people today also believe in it. I don’t know if it is really useful. I believe there is. The reason is that it has existed for thousands of years. Why has it become a feudal superstition in just a dozen or a few decades?
The third one is that the emperor came to the throne improperly. Many people have seen in joking TV series or other works that Yongzheng actually grabbed the position of the Fourteenth Prince and modified the content himself. So he was afraid that when he saw his father, he would ask him why? It’s not easy to answer myself. It seems that ancient emperors also had scruples and were not so arbitrary. Do you think this is true? I don’t believe it anyway. Because it was written not only in Chinese characters but also in Manchu. It is not as easy to modify Manchu as it is with Chinese characters.
What do you think of Yongzheng?
