Zhumadian, a prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Henan Province, is located in the south-central part of Henan Province, in the hilly plain of the upper reaches of Huaihe River, on the third-class landform steps of China, across the eastern edge of Nanyang Basin and Huaibei Plain, and in the transitional zone between subtropical zone and warm temperate zone. Zhumadian City is located in the transitional zone between subtropical zone and warm temperate zone, which has dual climatic characteristics of subtropical zone and warm temperate zone, and belongs to a typical continental monsoon semi-humid climate, with abundant sunshine, sufficient heat, abundant rainfall, mild and humid, and distinct four seasons.
However, due to the particularity of geographical location, it is determined that the territory is prone to severe weather such as drought, heavy rain, local hail and tornado. Queshan County, western suiping county and eastern Biyang County are shallow hills. Due to the influence of local climate, there are frequent flash floods and heavy rains.
