Cucumbers like warm places. What should I do if the temperature is too low?
Cucumbers are grown in many places in our country, because they are originally a product of warm areas, so they like warmth and are afraid of cold. Most of them are grown in greenhouses or greenhouses, so this is why it is rare to see cucumbers grown outdoors.
Cucumber is a vine plant with white and hard hairs. There are curly and thin whiskers on the top of the head, as well as white hair. The stems of the leaves are rough, wide and irregularly shaped. The flowers grow in the armpits of the leaves and have thinner peduncles. The length is relatively short. The fruit is the size of our common cucumber, usually long and round. The shape and size will vary depending on the species. The length ranges from ten to thirty centimeters and even longer to fifty centimeters. When mature, the color is yellow-green, with rough bumps on the surface that are prickly, the seeds are relatively small, and the inside of the fruit is transparent and white. Flowering and fruiting time are in summer.
Because cucumbers cannot stand cold, the suitable temperature for their growth is between ten and thirty-two degrees. Some varieties have large stems and leaves, are easy to branch, and of course have large fruit production. However, the fruit is short and light in color. The skin is thick and the aroma is light. In addition, the stems and leaves are very lush, and the fruits are small, white, green and yellowish white in color. The fruits of European and American varieties are relatively medium-sized, and the whole tree is very short and has strong branches. It will not grow if the temperature exceeds a certain temperature, but will die if it is too low. The lighting requirement is also relatively long, preferably eight to eleven hours a day. The moisture required by the soil and the humidity of the air depend on the time period during which the cucumbers are grown. But be sure to choose fertile soil with a pH of around 6.5.
When choosing seeds, you should choose high-quality varieties that are strong and not prone to disease. The germination time should also take two to three days. During this period, the temperature should be uniform and the seeds should be turned frequently. Generally, new shoots will appear in one day, and the temperature can continue to be maintained at 20 degrees. After the buds have sprouted, you can plant the seeds in the soil. After sowing, cover them with soil and film immediately. Choose to do it on a sunny day. When the seedlings break through the soil surface, you can remove the covering film and sprinkle 0.3 mm of soil on top. After the leaves of the seedlings have unfolded, they can be grafted or docked. For the next three days, the temperature should be kept between 25 and 28 without ventilation. Then consider whether to provide ventilation depending on the situation.
