Jinjiapu

Probe into the origin of Jin surname

First, from the surname. According to the dialectics of ancient and modern surnames, in the Spring and Autumn Period, there was a doctor in the State of Chu, Jin Shang, who took Jin as his surname. Jin's family originated from Jin Shang, an official doctor in Chu, which has been confirmed by various surname books and is based on land. Shanxi merchants were sealed in Jinjiang for their merits, and now they are located in Changsha and Ningxiang, Hunan. Today, there are Jinjiang, Jinjiang Village, Jinjiachong, Jinjiaci and other places here, which shows that my Jinjia really originated in this area.

Three sources of gold:

1. During the Sixteen Kingdoms Period in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, some Huns changed their surnames to Jin, and their representatives were General Zhao Guoqian and Hanwang Jin Zhun during the Sixteen Kingdoms Period. 2. At the end of the Yuan Dynasty, a Zhu surnamed Jin because of desertion (see "Jin Family Tree" by Longshu, collected in the north). 3. Modern ethnic minorities changed their Jin surnames. The change of Jin surname by ethnic minorities means that ethnic minorities change from China customs to adopt Han surname. According to the author's understanding, there are Manchu, Mongolian and Hui in the north and Miao, Yi and Gelao in the south.

Jinxing development

After Jin became a smug surname, perhaps because of the struggle of the imperial court, future generations did not develop in their native place, but could not escape to other countries to survive. This can be seen from the biographies of Jin Juan and Jin Qiang, two founding heroes in the early Han Dynasty (see Historical Records). Jin Juan made her debut in Yan Hong (now Heze, Shandong). Jin Qiang, Quwo, Xihe. Both places are in the north of China. Since the Han Dynasty, the Jin family has lived in Xihe area, and formed the Xihe County of the Jin family here. In the next 1000 years, the Jin family basically did not make any great contribution or influence to the land of China. Perhaps because of this reason, when the Han nationality in the Eastern Jin Dynasty moved to the south on a large scale, the Jin surname basically did not follow, but stayed in the northern region. There is no Nanjin surname in the historical records from Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties to Sui and Tang Dynasties. Since the Song Dynasty, especially in the Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, there have been more and more people surnamed Jin. Talented people come out of the country. This period is an important period for the development of Jin surname, which basically laid the foundation for the development of Jin surname today. Such as Jin Dejin, Jin Rong, Jin Yi, Jin Xueyan, Jin Gui, Jin Fu, etc. , has a certain influence in history. Investigating the ancestral homes of the characters named Jin in this period, both in the north and the south, shows that the surname Jin has flowed from the north to the south at this time, and the time is estimated to be in the Song and Yuan Dynasties.
