Where is the old train station in Beijing?
Beijing’s earliest railway station was built in the Imperial Garden of the Qing Palace. From 1885 to 1888, Cixi, the de facto figure in power in the Qing Dynasty, embezzled naval funds to build a royal garden annex for herself in order to satisfy her selfish desires. In order to cater to Cixi's hedonistic habits and to attract the interest of the highest rulers of the Qing Dynasty in railways, Li Hongzhang built Beijing's first railway - Ziguang Pavilion Railway, Beijing's "train station" in the Xiyuan of the Qing Palace (now Zhongnanhai and Beihai) It was in the Qingguan Imperial Garden that he was born. This railway starts from outside the Yingxiuyuan Gate of Zhonghai (later Jurentang Baoguang Gate) in the south, goes north along the west coast of Zhonghai and Beihai, turns eastward to the Paradise of Paradise, and ends at Jingqingzhai (later Jingxinzhai), so this The two places became the earliest "train stations" in Beijing - Yingxiuyuan Station and Jingqingzhai Station. The cars were purchased from Germany at a high price. There were six cars in total, five were presented to Cixi, and one was presented to Guangxu's biological father, Prince Chun. In 1888, Cixi moved to Xiyuan, using Yiluan Hall (which was later burned down by the Eight-Power Allied Forces and renamed Huairen Hall after reconstruction) as her bedroom, Qinzheng Hall as her administrative office, and Beihai Jingqingzhai as her villa. After the court dismissed at noon every day, Zixi went from Qinzheng Hall to Haiyan Tower (later renamed Jurentang) to change into casual clothes and have refreshments. Then, together with Emperor Guangxu's concubines, princes and ministers, he took the bus from Yingxiuyuan Station to Jingqingzhai for a lunch break. . Cixi believed that the smoke and roar while the train was running would destroy the vitality of the imperial city, so the front of the train was not used. Each train was tied with a yellow velvet rope, and the eunuch pulled the rope to pull the train forward. There are also strict differences in the decoration of carriages. The carriages driven by Cixi and Guangxu use yellow silk curtains and window curtains, the carriages of relatives and relatives use red silk, and the carriages of ministers use blue silk. So a human-pulled train started running in the Imperial Garden of the Qing Dynasty. The eunuchs held ceremonial guards and lined up on both sides of the track, giving people a sense of ignorance and ridiculousness. There is a Qing Dynasty palace poem that reads: The palace slaves lead yellow flags to the left and right, and the track is laid flat in Yingxiu Garden. At noon, the royal meal was delivered to the North Sea, and the racing wheels passed through the Fuhua Gate. Ziguangge Railway, Yingxiuyuan Station, and Jingqingzhai Station are the earliest railways and stations in Beijing. It is associated with the corrupt life of the rulers of China's last feudal dynasty. The real railway station in Beijing was born with the iron heel of the imperialist invading army. In 1900, the Eight-Power Allied Forces invaded Beijing. At dawn on August 16, British and American troops invaded the Temple of Heaven. This forbidden place where the Qing royal family worshiped heaven became the headquarters and military station of the invading army. The invaders mounted heavy artillery on the round hill and bombarded the front door. and the Forbidden City. For the needs of the invasion, the invading army also built a railway station in the Temple of Heaven. Beijing originally had two railways, Jinlu Railway and Lubao Railway, which were opened to traffic in 1896 and 1898 respectively. However, the Qing government was afraid that the train, a monster that spewed smoke and fire, would damage the feng shui of the capital and did not allow the train to enter the city. Therefore, if you want to go to Tianjin, you have to get on the bus at Majiapu outside Yongdingmen, and if you want to go to Baoding, you have to get on the bus at Marco Polo Bridge. The Eight-Power Allied Forces invaded the Temple of Heaven and established a general military station to facilitate transportation. They connected the rails from Majiapu, entered Yongding Gate, and reached the Temple of Heaven. They set up a main station outside Yuanqiu Gate, called Tiantan Outer Station, and then connected the rails to the Temple of Prayer for Grain. The gate is called the inner station of the Temple of Heaven. The outer station transports arms, food and grass, and the inner station transports troops. Inside the Temple of Heaven, property looted by the invaders was piled everywhere, including the golden Buddha from the Ten Thousand Buddha Tower, pearls and jade from the Royal Garden, treasures and cultural relics from the Forbidden City, official court uniforms and crowns, and civilian gold, silver, jewelry, and casual hats. The valuable ones were loaded into trucks by the invaders and transported out of the country. The ones they considered worthless were auctioned on the spot in the empty fields between the Temple of Heaven, Tianqiao and Xiannongtan. The royal forbidden area became a "foreign rag market". It was not until 1902 that the Qing royal family resumed the ceremony of worshiping heaven, and this shabby city was transferred to the Dongxiao City area. In 1901, the invaders dispersed their troops and the Temple of Heaven Station, which was a tool of aggression, was destroyed. The Qing government changed the railway track into the city to be introduced from the gap in the east wall of Yongding Gate. It passed through the current Longtan Lake to Dongbian Gate and turned west, along the south city wall to Zhengyang Gate. Zhengyangmen Station was built, which was later renamed Qianmen Station. It was not until 1959, when the current Beijing Station was built, that Qianmen Station ceased to be used. At that time, there was a bamboo poem describing the Qianmen Station as follows: "Beijing-Fengcheng East Railway Station is special and brilliant. Try looking at Beijing and Han from the opposite side. How can the West Station always look to the corner?" His own note said: " There are two stations on the left and right of Zhengyang Gate, the East Station of the Beijing-Fenghuang Railway in the east and the West Station of the Beijing-Hankou Railway in the west. The gates of the East Station today are extremely splendid, but the West Station is still missing. It is expected that they will be renovated in the future, and they stand majestically. "After Qianmen Station, with the increase of railways to Beijing, Xizhimen Station, Yongdingmen Station, Guang'anmen, Jiulongshan Freight Station, etc. were built successively.
With the development of my country's railway transportation, a modern new station, Beijing West Railway Station, was built in the Lotus Pond in the west of Beijing. Beijing's railway transportation has since reached a new level.
